Wa Post Poll Shows If The Election Were Held Today, Trump Would Still Beat Clinton :)

LOL This thread is hilarious. Grind is spinning like Bush supporters did in 2004 when, predictably Iraq became a debacle. LOL

Hey Grind...he won...why all the rationalizing? A little insecure maybe? LOL LOL LOL

One last note on this: it's completely delusional to think that Comey's October Surprise didn't decide the election.

It definitely did. It solidified a negative impression of Hillary, so of course it still shows up in polls today. But that is a completely bogus conclusion on your part.

Given the election was decided by about 80,000 votes in 3 states, there is no doubt whatsoever that Comey's intrusion had the decisive effect. Why deny that? It affects your credibility. It's obvious to even a casual observer of politics.

Comey also helped Hillary before he hurt her. You left that out of your analysis.

Also missing is the fact any objective observer could see that the bulk of the media was in the tank for Hillary AND anti-Trump.

Comey's comments were just one factor of many that could have factored into it---and most of those factors favored Hillary.

I guess, if you also like poll tests and poll taxes and gerrymandering and voter IDs etc and the other perturbations and suppressions.

I like voter ID. Who's requiring test and taxes?

As for gerrymandering, in my state the Democrats were masters of it. Look at the history of NC's 13th district. This link has buttons for 2001 (Democrat drawn), 2011 (Democrat drawn) and 2016 (proposed, Republican drawn). Now tell me who are the masters of gerrymandering.

I like voter ID too. Our new laws here saved Michigan from going to Hillary because Detroit couldn't just stuff the ballot boxes anymore.

Yes. How many people do you know who were agonizing over their choice well into October?

There were quite a few.

The fact that you don't realize how many made up their minds in the final week is extraordinarily telling. Why are you even in this conversation?

Poll shows she would lose the popular vote now, as well.

Not doubt by an equally slim margin Hillary won the popular vote in the election lol.

With 'slim' being the key concept. Plus 3 million votes out of 210 million just isn't significant in blow out terms. It would be like bragging that your football team ran the ball down the other teams throat when the two teams came a hairs breadth of being tied in yards gained on the ground.

The take-home from the popular vote statistic isn't that Hillary had some sort of commanding lead in the electorate and that democracy was subverted by the electoral college; rather, it was quite the opposite: the electorate *is nearly evenly divided 50/50*. Look at what happened in just the last several months: Hillary won the popular vote in the election and Trump 'won' it in the very next poll.

Consequently, trying to win the WH via popular vote becomes a coin toss. Liberals should be thankful for the electoral college instead of whining about it. But they don't like the electoral college because the EC functions as a hedge against population centers leading the country in extreme directions.

In other words, liberals would very much like to ignore the Rust Belt and non-minorities but the EC forces them to do otherwise, or they themselves may face electoral irrelevance.

The founders were brilliant.
