Wa Post Poll Shows If The Election Were Held Today, Trump Would Still Beat Clinton :)

The most surprising thing about the poll is it's from WashPo lol.

I think the take home lesson is the electorate is ossified: it's going to be difficult to get either side to budge. If you're a Trump voter, the other side has nothing to offer you. And if you are anti-Trump, then Trump is Hitler.

Also, nothing much has changed since Election Day. The poll isn't good news if you believe a do-over would benefit democrats.

Looking ahead, the democrats best [perhaps only] hope is for Trump to fail or be impeached. Because if he hangs around and the economy starts to click democrats are going to have a great deal of difficulty peeling off Trump voters---when they're already resistant before Trump has scored any significant victories.

Note this doesn't take into account the democrats intra-party issues: they lack leadership, a message beyond Trump resistance and they are every bit as fractured as the GOP.

I don't think Trump has to be ultra-successful to go two terms.

That's completely delusional.

They're a reasonable guide - better than a hunch.

But the tone of the OP cracks me up. Grind has such a chip on his small-minded shoulder about all of this stuff.

Methinks he's in for a rough one in '18. I'll pray for him.

Pray to who? Your messiah is no longer in office. lol

"LOL" doesn't even cut it on the bolded. That's insane.

At this stage of his Presidency, 40% is tragic. And his honesty & trustworthiness is at 25% - off the charts low. They were saying that no one has been that low, ever.

Trump sucks. You know it, I know it. Worst thing that could happen to the GOP. By the next election, it will be challenging to find someone willing to admit they voted for him.

Is this a prediction? lol

JPP myths blown the fuck out:

1) The myth of the regretful trump voter. Sorry, not fucking true.

2) The myth that Clinton could have won if it weren't comey (it's been months now and the weiner laptop stuff should be immaterial in peoples minds)

3) The myth that the electorate in general is regretful. Nope. Some people may dislike trump, but months later, America collectively agrees, "Well, at least he's not BILL CLINTONS WIFE!"

HAHAHAHA.

The poll result (just 1000 participants ain't high power) makes perfect sense and is therefore meaningless. Republicans won with Trump and so they would vote for him, Democrats lost with Hillary and so they would vote for someone else hoping for a winning outcome.

This is the biggest "DUH" poll ever. I for one know Trump voters have no buyers remorse. I never said they did. I say they should, but I don't expect a bit of compassion or rationality from the white tribe party. If anything they wish he was a BIGGER MORE MENTALLY DERANGED RACIST ASSHOLE than he is. Had the poll questioned Republicans if they would rather have voted for Adolph Hitler than Trump, many would have said yes.

Mildly curious ... if you could do it over, who would you have voted for in the primary?

There's a better than even chance Trump will be reelected because there's a better than even chance dims will nominate an incredibly bad candidate.

what people dont understand is that as long as there is progress we are happy. The left complains that trump has not fixed everything by day 100. We never expected that. Just him being president creates a chilling effect for illegal immigrants and companies sending jobs overseas. Will it stop 100% of it? no. But it would have accelerated under obama/hillary.

i do it judiciously.
I had 2 women unfriend me because I supported Trump -you gotta wonder how tightly wrapped anyone is
that would do that

I don't know.....I've been tempted by my old college roommate who keeps "Liking" things from the NotMyPresident feed......

Economic confidence is up and the stock market is up. So if Trump and republicans in congress can deliver on tax reform, it will be more than just confidence---it's going to start showing up in the indicators.

It's the economy, economy, economy.

Outside the liberal and MSM bubble nobody gives a crap about Russians, Trump's Tweets or much else. If Trump delivers results on the economy and jobs, it's game-over.

Even if it happens they bring impeachment charges against Trump [for whatever is in their imaginations lol], it's going to be a dicey vote, politically at that point. So in that sense, they better be getting after it soon.

A more realistic factor that could affect things is foreign policy: Trump has gonads, I'll give him that. The politically safe thing to do would be to ignore NK but he's rattling Bowl Cut's cage. That has a steep downside, even though the upside has the potential to be historic.

The only thing for sure is Trump is going to keep things interesting.

well, since he didn't show up for the convention in his own state, I wouldn't vote for Kasich again......
I have absolutely no regret voting for Johnson. He wasn't great but the best of the final 3.25 (I give Stein a .25 only because she showed up on the radar).

As to Kasich, imagine the gen. election between him and O'Malley. It'd have to be called a bore-off.

Kasich would have been a very good President - possibly great.

Still weird to me that we ended up w/ Trump/Clinton. Too many candidates on the GOP side that split the neverTrump vote, and a strangely thin Dem field.

Kasich was a tiresome globalist -in favor of the TPP

The whole TPP thing was so overrated as an "issue." Not that I didn't get it, but it's a pretty small thing compared to what a competent, proven executive like Kasich could have done for small businesses & the economy. The guy had a real track record in OH, and knows how to work w/ Congress. We wouldn't have had this whole 1st year learning curve that we have w/ Trump.

You can't shun globalism right now. I know that's the trend, but it's like fighting the current. Best bet is to incorporate globalism w/ business-friendly policies.

I stopped reading your post at this point because you clearly do not understand statistics. See, I took 400 level statistic courses in school. I am an expert, you are not. A random sample of 300 people for a given population will put you around a 95% confidence interval. A sample size of 1000 is more than enough

I thought the same thing. I've had to use statistical analysis for research papers.
