Trump "No role for US in Libya"

100% recycled karma
breaking from his press conference: (above) "we have enough roles" were his words.
He was speaking of counter-terrorism

Libya has screwed up anti-terrorism efforts in Africa- ISIS is still there, and it's leaking all over N.Africa joining up with AQIM, and weapons are flowing to Boko Harem. Tunisia/Algeria is a mess..

Trump just said on his press conference he sees no "US role in Libya"-hopefully he mean troops.
We do have CIA/Special forces there as does Britain..

Thing is.....Russia definately sees a role there -close ties with Hiftar.

But Libya is a fractured state - so you have to wonder if any (unwanted) western/Russian powers
can do much of anything

"We should stay the hell out of Syria, the "rebels" are just as bad as the current regime. WHAT WILL WE GET FOR OUR LIVES AND $ BILLIONS?ZERO" - Donald Rump, Twitter

going after Assad -which I am not in favor of -with a proportional strike is hardly the same as arming the rebels..

The CIA tried that under Obama -it was a disaster

Trump has no doctrine, no principled method of thinking. So much for the US breaking things and not being accountable for fixing them. Are terrorists in Libya? So much for the Bush doctrine and the congressional authorization of war on terror. Why would Trump tell the world he is going to be hands off in Libya. What does that help? Nothing. Trump the chump.

Libya doesn't matter. That's why.

The French and the Italians get their oil from Libya. Libya is their problem.
it's a much bigger problem then oil.
Libya is a hub for weapons flows to Africa, is geographical connection to AQIM with ISIS in Iraq/Syria- is the launching point for migrants to Europe

Perhaps. I'd say over the long run Egypt is more important.

because they don't want us there? Is that a good enough reason?
and "hands off" means attempting to be part of the political process -which inexorably leads to picking sides,
which leads to taking part in their civil war..which is nationbuilding..

We just went in and bombed Sirte ( the ISIS stronghold) but we did it with the Misrata Brigades as ground troops.
( to clear out ISIS)
They all hate us for what we're done, and have rejected the UN imposed government in Tripoli

He got involved with Syria because it was an easy target at a time when he needed a boost in the polls. Watch, he will do nothing more. He is done.

The us should have some continuity of policy particularly in matters of war. Obama was against the Iraq war and his stated policy was troop exit, but he didn't just yank it when that was not feasible or constituted abandonment of countries we've bombed. Trumps foreign policy is whatever off the cuff remark he blurts out.

Have numbers to prove this or are you just farting in the wind?

We do, we bomb when it looks like Rump needs a poll boost.
