Russia agrees to Syrian peace talks with UN and United States

Geneva 4.0 ??? how many times now ? * maybe they'll all get in the same room? *

Both sides in Syrian peace talks to meet in “same room”
After three days of hostile rhetoric and five hours spent assiduously avoiding contact within the United Nations, the two sides will meet “in the same room,” said the U.N. mediator trying to forge an end to the civil war that has left 130,000 people dead since 2011.

Talk is never a bad thing.

Though Syria seems intractable.

When did it leave?? You thought it was gone??? LMAO!!

The buzz is certainly gone.

They've gone back to calling for Trump's tax returns as the outrage du jour. And in all of my daily meandering through various news outlets there isn't much mention of it. Hardly any at all, actually.

The most recent was a CNN story that breathlessly rehashed the Carter Paige FISA warrant. You know, those warrants that have a 1/1000 chance of being rejected lol.

On the plus side, there won't be communists present to bitch about the shape of the negotiating table, as in Korea.

That was the Paris talks -Vietnam war

he Vietnam War’s history is a long one, rife with casualties and misunderstanding. One particular aspect of the war is emblematic of just how poorly leadership – from all countries – treated the war. This is the so-called “battle of the tables” which I first encountered in George C. Herring’s America’s Longest War. This skirmish of desks took place in the waning weeks of Lyndon B. Johnson’s presidency, as he scrambled to end the war.

I found a reference here. Perhaps history repeated itself.

interesting. but the shape of the table in Paris really did impact and slowdown the talks,
But the real culprit was Nixon's "peace with honor" crap that dragged the talks out for years

Instead of drafting cables at night, the U.S. delegation sketched table designs, the two sides proposing at various times such inventive geometric creations as a broken parallelogram, four arcs of a circle, a flattened ellipse, and two semi-circles that touched but did not form a circle.

And so, after weeks of duking it out over seating arrangements, the verdict – brokered by the Soviet Union – was a round table for the two Vietnamese governments and nearby square tables for the other actors involved. The negotiations could finally begin. The problem was, they began in the last days of Johnson’s administration, and so they never really began.

Here's comes the Russian conspiracy again lol.

Someone could prove that the only collusion was between Russia and one of the DNC's own members and the liberals would then say that the DNC member was a Trump undercover operative, who was put there to discredit the DNC. :palm:
