That has nothing to do with Trump's taxes and those aren't audits per se you're referring to. They're examinations of the return; primarily what was requested of Trump while running for office and which he refused to submit. They're also conducted under tightly monitored standards and in a timely manner.

On further reflection I think he knows perfectly well that the hyenas would have a field day and the media would be full of it for months on end. Obama refused to show his birth certificate or indeed his grades at Harvard for much the same reason.
