12,392,000: U.S. Manufacturing Jobs Reach Highest Level in 8 Years

That is good news. There is zero reason this country cannot be the manufacturing center of the world. We have the intelligence, the resources and the manpower. Keep going!

I know we've had this discussion many times before but on the whole it's not in the country's interest to be that. Throw in automation, A.I. ect our future is not in old school manufacturing jobs

If you have 10,000,000 people working in one factory, or 10,000,000 people owning their own factory ( automation, artificial intelligence) it is 10,000,000 good paying jobs. That is the way I look at it.

Now that there are no enviro regulations, that helps. But, our wages are still 100 times that of China, and we have that nagging issue of health insurance that costs the employer/employee.

it is absolutely possible and without it we continue to pay millions to sit at home and do nothing which is unsustainable

Still plenty of regulations. I know that up close and personal. Nothing major has changed in that arena yet, at least in the maritime industries. If you have a good product or service, people will pay what is a fair for that product or service, generally. Right?

We can't walk and chew economical gum at the same time lol?

Organic food is catching on big time, I know several couples that have quit their 8-5 jobs to grow vegetables and all are doing well.

It if funny you bring that up. I know a pipe fitter who started a goat milk and cheese business on the side with his wife. He no longer works construction. It took off big time!! It certainly can and is being done. I say good!!

The United States added 11,000 jobs in manufacturing in March reaching a total of 12,392,000 people employed in the manufacturing sector, according to data released today by the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Agree with the premise of this thread. Thanks President Obama, for digging us out of the mess George Dumbya Bush left you to clean up.

In January 2009, George Dumbya Bush had driven us right to the precipice of a Second Great Republican Depression.

This thread demonstrates that Obama's legacy is even more remarkable given that George Dumbya, his supporters, sychophants, and his voters guided us through two failed wars and steered us towards an nearly unprecedented economic catastrophe.

The economy added 98,000 jobs in March, postponing fulfillment of President Donald Trump’s pledge to put Americans back to work.

That is pretty big here as well & on weekends many flock to small & large farmers markets where fresh & healthy local stuff can be had...

If this is politically driven and not market what did Obama do to increase manufacturing jobs? Do you think adding more regulations increases them?
