There is virtually no solar in Florida yet it is one of the sunniest places in the US. Ask yourself why?

why not take the dirty coal loser towns and give them new safer jobs that will last in to the future

No feed in tariffs so low take-up. If solar can't pay for itself in somewhere like Florida then where can it?global warming?
Power density and efficiency. Until alternative energies ( and they will someday) can produce the amount of power for a given area that matches fossil fuels, solar, wind etc will take a back seat. They cannot provide by themselves
the amount of power that consumers demand (as of yet) nor can they do it 24 hours a day. Alternatives are improving everyday but they have a long way to go.

because solar energy is a pain in the ass.
And it takes decades to recover the cost of installing the panels and conversion hardware. And by then you need to repair or replace the first ones you installed.
There is another reason why people are not gaga over solar energy, and that's because it serves no purpose in the grand scheme.
Well exactly, it is only cost effective when heavily subsidised even somewhere as sunny as Florida.because solar energy is a pain in the ass.

Solar can and will change our energy landscape. Solar thermal plants anyway. It will just take more time and improved thermal storage. It will happen though.
and we should pursue it, no doubt
Anything that is cleaner, less expensive when the technology makes it feasible is worth it.
But not now, at the cost of American jobs, As long as there is a demand for coal anywhere on the planet American coal miners should the ones supplying it
regulations based on fake climate change data is just ridiculous
Green energy jobs. The people would be better served by job training, rather than trying to resurrect a dead industry.why not take the dirty coal loser towns and give them new safer jobs that will last in to the future
It is widely used in AZ, my friends energy bill is a lot lower than mine in TX, so I don't know what you are talking about.because solar energy is a pain in the ass.
