I haven't seen it reported yet, but I heard last night that there is a new study out that concludes that more people will actually be covered if all they do is repeal. Fewer will be covered if they actually replace.
It's a lose, lose for everyone vested in controlling the runaway costs of our healthcare system and improving health outcomes at all levels.
The ACA was a step forward in bringing our backward health management system into the 21st century. It comes close to providing coverage, at some level, for all. Where the ACA has failed and failed spectacularly is on ending the free rider problem (i.e. moochers on the system like Grind) and controlling and standardizing costs.
Ryanpayordiecare is a step backwards as many will lose coverage and others will see their coverage costs soar, meaning they won't be able to afford coverage which will exacerbate the cost problem, etc.
So on the whole there is no question that the GOP Ryanpayordiecare is consistent with GOP philosophy...just not hypocractic or humane philosophies.
This will come back to bite the GOP in the ass as the ideologues are forgetting the #1 rule of being a Republican. What's good for business is good for everyone. This is not good for business.

Trump is that rare creature who always wants to win whether the battle is simple or Pyrrhic, he sticks to the most absurd comments and accusations, and you have to wonder what purpose this intransigence brings to his weak psyche? The man is sick in an interesting but scary way. When you read history you must wonder how, but in America today we have the 'wonder how' as president. lol

That depends. In the short term it would be good for him politically to sign what lands on his desk as he'll be able to say that it was another campaign promise that he kept. In the long term, if costs for older, the very young and women of reproductive age increase as they are projected too than it will bite him in the ass.So what is worse for Rump, passing it or not passing it?

None of that may matter. What if in 2020 Trump has a 35% approval rating and the Dems nominate some old party hack establishment Democrat, like Nancy Pelosi, with a 20% approval rating it wouldn't matter for Trump. He still gets re-elected.
You can't base political outcomes on just what one side does.
I hope it dies a miserable death. Any republican who votes for this travesty should kill themselves.
