Trump's military budget increases

FUCK THE POLICE

911 EVERY DAY
The last thing the military needs is to sink more money into the F-35 boondoggle or build more useless aircraft carriers for Chinese/Iranian anti-carrier missiles to sink. If you're going to fund something, fund the future. We need drones, we need information technology, we don't need to fight WWII over again. Trump is entirely about doubling down on a old outdated models and ignoring reality. Trump is the desperation of a failing power.

He wants big showy airCraft carriers.... A yuge wall, etc etc etc. You know, the over compensation thing...:whome:

Lockheed Lowers Price on F-35 Fighters, After Prodding by Trump
fter weeks of pressure from President Trump, Lockheed Martin agreed on Friday to a somewhat larger price cut on its F-35 fighters than it had on the last few orders, and finally brought the cost of the main version below $100 million for each jet.

The Pentagon will buy 90 of the radar-evading planes under the new contract for $8.2 billion.

The F-35 is by far the Pentagon’s largest program; it has plans to eventually build more than 2,400 of them for the Air Force, Navy and Marines, and hundreds more for allies. Mr. Trump began to criticize the much-delayed project shortly after he was elected and met with Lockheed’s chief executive, Marillyn A. Hewson, twice to try to bring down the price.
Officials with the military and with Lockheed said the president’s intervention helped speed up the negotiations and contributed to the cost savings.

Lowering the price of the Air Force version to less than $100 million is a long-awaited milestone for the program, which began 15 years ago as a way to create a versatile but relatively inexpensive fighter compared with the more acrobatic F-22
. Lockheed has built around 200 of the planes so far, including a version for the Marines that lands and takes off like a helicopter and a Navy model that flies from aircraft carriers.

F-35 is VTOL, carrier based, land based and will be the uniform mainframe of NATO in the future.
Costs are coming down now that production runs are being sold..
It's amazing this turkey is flying after all the developmental problems
from software, to heads up helmet displays,to single engine thrust..but here it is :)

Can't disagree about the F-35 but if aircraft carriers are so obsolete then why is China building them? They have also rolled out their own version of the F-22 which many suspect has been developed with the use of industrial espionage.

^ they are not obsolete..where do we get this stuff? They are not the unchecked power base of the future with
"space drones" vulnerability
- but for conventional war that need a platform other then land based weaponry -including air force bases you still very much need them.

Yes china recognizes that too for it potential actions against the littoral states of SE Asia

They have one, untested show piece...........

It is a tribute to himself & nothing more, like the wall Mexico was going to build, now us tax payers will be footing the bill....

#2 deployed -and it's advanced. more nuclear one's on the way.
These are viable platforms.

China's new aircraft carrier hints at the future of its navy
http://www.popsci.com/liaoning-china-aircraft-carrier-navy
ooking ahead to 2030, the next Chinese carrier will likely look very similar to the Liaoning CVBG, with updated destroyers and frigates that provide a more advanced layered defense and missile strike system. It will likely be accompanied by an arsenal of drones.

And then comes the nuclear-powered carriers of the Type 003 Chinese aircraft carrier. The Type 003 itself would likely have a displacement of around 90,000-100,000 tons and carry anywhere from between 70-100 helicopters and fixed wing aircraft, and have multiple aircraft elevators and a single island superstructure. With a nuclear-powered reactor, the Type 003 could reach speeds in excess of 30 knots. The reactors could also provide the power for electromagnetically assisted launch system (EMALS) catapults (the preceding conventional Type 002 carrier may use steam catapults). EMALS catapults have improved efficiency and are less maintenance intensive than steam catapults.

Why is it that draft dodgers and other assorted limp wristed men are so gungho on military spending Are they so simple minded that supporting war materials makes them feel tough?

By 2030 they will be even more vulnerable........
did you read "swarm of drones" they are intelligent drones -they self organize and carry out tasks.
That keeps the ships AA/anti-missile systems from being overloaded.

the Great Underwater Wall Of Robots: Chinese Exhibit Shows Off Sea Drones

China is investing in un-manned naval vehicles as well
( so are we).
They are essentially copying our blueprint - this makes them a world power projector like the USA.
Their carriers are part on an integrated force ( as are ours)

They are necessary for power projection. Without them we'd just be stuck in America and couldn't launch strikes in the middle east or wherever like we do. However, we don't really need increased power projection over what we currently have. And, again, they are useless in any war against a halfway competent power.

A carrier group can take advantage of international air/sea space. No permission needed for over flights of other countries. While they are for power projection, their mission capabilities are numerous from humanitarian, perceived force and actual combat. The platform can and does fit all of those missions. Consider the cost of a carrier that can do all that and then the cost of bases around the world and they are a relative bargain.

The PLA Navy has decided that aircraft carrier battle group will be the main direction of surface vessel development, so new vessels will all be developed based on the needs of the battle group, including the design and construction of Type 055 destroyer.

it has outstanding stealth performance thanks to various stealth designs and comprehensive stealth means. Its body also adopts stealth design, and the radar has a very small cross section with low infrared radiation, small electromagnetic radiation and low noise.

Third, it is equipped with a number of weapons. Being able to carry more than 100 vertical launching missiles of various types at the same time, including anti-ship missile, air-defense missile, anti-submarine missile and even long-range ground-attack cruising missile, Type 055 destroyer can attack targets 1,000-2,000km away, indicating a massive enhancement of ground attack capability.

I want to drop a drone over Watermark's DC home and then see what he has to say about totally autonomous war planes.

If you are trolling, you suck. If you are not, you are the dumbest MOFO on this planet.
