CBO Report for Trump's proposed AHA

The CBO wasn't correct regarding Obama Care, they don't appear to be particularly correct regarding AHA either. The obvious here is that of course the number of uninsured will rise...because people won't be forced to buy it. Good conversation here with Varney and McCaughey today.

What was the estimate for ACA, and what did they get wrong?

McCaughey explained it well. Now I finally see why the Obama Care prices skyrocketed as they did. It was designed to fail by 2016 and so it did. Also, when the CBO talks about rising number of uninsured, they're talking about uninsured by Obama Care.

Why won't you illustrate what the CBO got wrong? And why don't you tell us everything you know about the risk corridor program? Or the cost sharing program?

Except that's not what the CBO said.

If the proposed American Health Care Act (AHCA) — a Republican bill dubbed “Trumpcare” that would overturn the 2010 Affordable Care Act (ACA), known as Obamacare — becomes law, 52 million people would be uninsured in 2026, the nonpartisan report found.

Conversely, if Obamacare remained in place, 28 million Americans would be uninsured by that year — indicating that 24 million people would lose coverage under Trumpcare.

Personally, I can't wait till I'm tossed off Obama Care. I've been forced against my will to take this thing. Never once used it. And, had to set up a payment plan with the IRS to send them $20/month for the rest of my life in a futile attempt to pay it off!!!! All of us who will no longer have this idiotic h.c. plan will be free to decide for ourselves just when and with whom we will choose to have our h.c. with!

Thought the Dumbocrats were the party of freedom of choice...NOT!

I believe the CBO said there would be 21m enrolees for obamacare by 2016 and the real number was 11.5m. So they were about 90-100% wrong on the number.
Yes. That has nothing to do with the number of people who are now covered. During the process of crafting ACA, many Right Wing company owners made bold claims about dropping insurance coverage for employees.

They never did that, so there was less demand for the exchange policies. CBO took into account the fact that many employers might just drop coverage, despite the possible penalty. Again...it never happened.

If that's the best you have, I'd say CBO was spot on.

Why are you sending money to the IRS for your insurance?

Hopefully those that didn't buy into the ACA will be granted amnesty someday. It was the most unfair law I've seen in my lifetime.

if the cbo were spot on then there would be no problem with new healthier people paying for the sick but thats not what we have now.

That's the sad part. I and many did not buy into this atrocity. It was forced on us and then fined for not wanting it. There was no choice.

You're joking. Please tell me you're just kiddin' around here.

The fine was implemented as a tax! So, every year when I do my taxes. Cha-Ching...I have to pay the Gubment Plantation (which I've never resided on in my entire life) all the "premium" bucks for the plan I never wanted or used. Don't you get what this abomination was all about? Again, people had no choice!

Can't speak for him but I personally know good responsible people that ACA put in a financial bind. I also know two people that could afford hlth. ins. before ACA but never bought it, preferring to spend their money on a 3 pack a day cigarette addiction. Guess who got Medicaid after ACA?
I think that was it's intent... penalize responsible folks and reward those more irresponsible - a hallmark of "progressive" thought.

I also know folks who decided to go without hlth. ins. and pay the penalty. They just couldn't afford it. And then I turned them on to christian based medical cost sharing.:cheer:
