Clapper: 'No such wiretap activity mounted' on Trump

I seriously wonder if Trump has any ability to make this claim -or even support or refute it himself.

IOW's does he even have access to legitimate intelligence on matters involving the IC.. I doubt it.
I think he's shooting in the dark like the rest of us. sad!
 
you don't need intelligence to know that the warrant was issued......you only need to be able to read the NYT and even liberals do that......therefore, no intelligence needed......

If I were him, I would leave it alone from here and allow the Russian thing to peter-out. This may [finally!] be the proverbial nail in the coffin on it.

yep..I seriously think he's not getting any info the IC doesn't want him to have -
so there is no way of knowing. we've never seen the Deep State seize the IC like this ..
It's a losing battle for him..gawd help us all if there is a crisis..

meanwhile I am listening to Mika's head explode about Trump being an "authoritarian"

There can only be evidence of communication between Russia and Trump people if someone was listening in. If no FISA request was granted, whatever evidence they had on Trump, it didn't rise to the level of probable cause.

To use the standard everyone enforces on Trump, the Trump/Russian collusion theory is a lie.

A couple of things: one is there are means of surveillance that don't include wiretapping. Someone should ask Clapper if Trump was subject to surveillance. Second, as a technical matter, the FISA court *orders* the wiretapping or surveillance.

So, it could be technically true that Clapper didn't wiretap Trump Tower and it could be technically true that Obama didn't order it.

And from what I saw out of the last 6 months of the Obama administration, neither would surprise me in the least.

If the FISA court turned down a request for a warrant---that's the end of the Russian conspiracy. If they granted the warrant, then Trump wasn't lying. At best, he was technically incorrect about the Obama connection, since it wasn't necessary for Obama to sign off on it.

If it's your mission in life to catch Trump in lies, there it is. But most everyone else will know what Trump meant: they willl be incensed by the fact the government was being used by the opposition party to destroy a candidacy.

Of course not.

But maybe you missed the implications. If there was actual evidence [gathered by some other means than a wiretap] of a Trump-Russian conspiracy why would the FISA court turn down a warrant request? And if you wanted more evidence to solidify the case against Trump, *why wouldn't* you take the next step and involve the FISA court.

The conspiracy falls apart.

This is fairly strong evidence Trump is making this up. This is a direct quote, via video, that Clapper had no knowledge of this.

Now, could it have happened without his knowledge or is he lying?

What's clear is the fact that 'Clapper' worked for Obama.......just what did anyone expect him say, yes we are guilty as hell, send me to prison? LMAO Another thing that is clear, this is not over and Obama and his moles are no longer in charge....Mr. Trump now has privy to all the paper trails and the authority to declassify anything he wishes. It is noted that every time someone asks the question concerning the use of the NSA in such a fashion the answer is always ambiguous and never presented in a straightforward yes or no context, its always answered in a defensive manner with "plausible deniability" in mind.

Words such as "unaware"......"I can deny the request for ....for a wiretap....came from ME"....yada, yada, yada. The response in the same manner came from Obama. Its like slick willy, "I did not have sex with that young woman.....define sex."

Strange is the fact in spite of Obama having a shopping list of at least 50 documented examples of lies AND a previous history of using both the IRS and the DOJ to investigate political enemies like JAMES ROSEN on trumped up charges .....the press and you characters continue to say, "Well that proves it...nothing to see here....when ever one of his cronies denies anything." But every time Trump open's his mouth, its "Where is the evidence he's not lying..."

Funny as hell. Again....did anyone expect Clapper to put the handcuffs on himself? Really? When one looks at the big bigger in a logical and reasoned fashion there must be something to the accusations.....its documented there continues to be a SOURCE for all the classified leaks being pikelined to the press, "the anonymous source" has an origination its not coming from magic....and some of the information being feed to the press could have came from only one source....wire tapping. The information must have existed previous to the start of this new leadership...thus, the arrow points in only one direction...backwards.
