How the Baby Boomers Ruined Everything....

we took it for granted we could distort the body politik with hyper-partisanship and the country would absorb all our selfishness.
we taught generations behind us to hate -to literally seethe and hate members of the other party.

We've taken 200 years of American politics-what used to be the envy of the world and drowned it and stomped the life out of it -so that the phrase "common good" is derided with our narrow minded regionalism

When Hong Kong was setting up it's political partys after autonomy -i was reading the South China Morning Post
and OP ed pieces were using the US political system as ex. to be avoided because of hopeless gridlock.
I was astounded just how far we've debased ourselves in the eyes of the world

Well at least we have Trump to to quell the the hyper partisanship. Oh wait, never mind it's the hyper partisans that elected him.

those who preached that the government, in all it's forms, could and should be trusted to be upright and honest with us.....THAT is who destroyed everything.

EVEN BEFORE the election, Americans were asking just how we got here — to this sullen moment of national reckoning. Since November, the autopsy has dragged on so long it seems there could be nothing left to dissect. But the search continues, because no truly satisfying answer has yet been offered. Deplorables, deportables, economic malaise, rural resentment, coastal hauteur whatever — these are just symptoms. The root illness remains undiagnosed, but here it is: the baby boomers, that vast generation of Americans born in the first two decades after World War II. The body politic rests on the slab because boomers put it there, because decades of boomerism produced the problems and disaffection of which 2016 was merely the latest expression.

It’s a shocking hypothesis, but then again, America has suffered a shocking decline. In 1971, Alan Shepard was playing golf on the moon. Today, America can’t put a man into orbit (or, allegedly, the Oval Office) without Russian assistance. Something changed, and that something was the boomers and the sociopathic agenda they emplaced.

More at link... (duh)...

What a crock of BULLSHIT.

Reagan wonked for Baby boomers?
Not.
Clinton fucked up the economy?
Not.
Bush cut taxes for boomers?
Again, not.

LMFAO

They did a poor job with entitlements and the like. But they did some good things as well.

One of the biggest problems is they didn't plan well for future generations.

But we should recognize this was the last hardworking generation. The last one's who went to factories and farms. To blame everything on them is a bit hasten imo.

"Computer science was pretty much invented after the war leading on from the groundbreaking work of the Bletchley code breakers. All the pioneers of the Internet were boomers, so it is chastening to think that without them the Millennials wouldn't even have somewhere to bitch and moan." M #17

Herman Hollerith is often credited.
But I gather it was the IBM 360, the first mainframe computer I know of that used solid-state technology.

The circuit density of modern computer chips is dizzying. Chip features are so small, they're iridescent. That's approaching the realm of quantum physics.

Computer memory is dirt cheap now. Check NewEgg. I gather computer memory can be purchased for about a $dollar a $Gig.

1. the generation of the fig tree began when Israel was replanted as a nation [1948]; it coincides with the end of WW2 and the beginning of the baby boom and the new earth order which was very good until the fig tree began maturing [about 1964]and producing bad fruit. that has brought us to here. 2. the beginning of the baby boom and replanting of Israel coincides with the end of the biblical sixth day [6000 years] and the beginning of the seventh day [rest] soon; no man knows the day nor hour but all who watch and wait will not be found unaware of the times and seasons 3. all of the things which The Lord describes: famines, earthquakes in divers places, wars and rumours of wars are common, every day normal occurrences.4. the baby boom and replanting of Israel [ the fig tree generation ] began in about 1945/ 1948. a proper biblical generation is 50 years [IMO] / jubilee is every 50 years. however in a heathen world a generation is about 70+/- years [jubilee forgotten/ no rest and restoration]. the baby boomers are about to die and The Lord said that this generation would not pass away until the beginnings of sorrows [tribulation 3.5 years] and [great tribulation 3.5] were fulfilled. 5.violence does cover the face of the earth and the people and their religious systems are totally apostate. 6. antichrist islamism and worship/ consent to/ acceptance of the false prophet mohamed [damned forever]and of "allah" Lucifer according to the false prophet is expanding exponentially even among apostate falsely so called "christians" in the mainstream of culture; and is being legislated into law globally. I could go on and on, but these are my personal views on the parable of the fig tree. it is good to learn the parable of the fig tree. I have been here since 1967 [the year Jerusalem was won in battle back from the damned U.N.] it is the 50th year since then [biblical Jubilee]. i am an eyewitness and it would be dishonest to deny all the proof i see. if i am hated for these testimonies then i am good with The Lord. it is good. i think this is absolutely pertinent to this thread. i never intend to muck up anyone's thread with my alternative testimonies.
Why can't you confine the God bothering to the appropriate forum?

idiotic..many of the Trump voters-myself included-
looked at Trump favorably because he was NOT PART OF THE ESTABLISHMENT.

If you can't see the Dems are the hyper-partisans here then you are hopelessly in the dark.
I don't want this thread to become Clinton v Trump - but your statement is pure fallacy

Typical American, Charles Babbage invented the difference engine in the 19th century. He never finished it and the Science Museum built it in 1991.

The first electronic programmable computer named Colossus was developed by Tommy Flowers in 1943 to break the German Lorentz code used by their high command.

Boomers are the ones fvcking the young in this country taxing S.S. and Medicare and fighting to not allow new housing to be built to protect their values.

You're missing the big picture.

“The single most important thing we want to achieve is for President Obama to be a one-term president” Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY)
http://www.mediaite.com/online/whit...me-the-shameless-mitch-mcconnell-and-company/

Speaker Gingrich ushered in the era of uber partisanship, with his Contract on America, and his impeachment of President Clinton.

It has persisted ever since.

Democrats didn't start this. But they'd be chumps if Democrats cooperated with Republicans, but were persistently and compulsively obstructed by Republicans.

Republicans reap what they sow.

^ same old repetitive mantra about Republican obstructionism -endorsing more of the same by the Dems
which brought us to where we are now. Not getting it that the cycle needs to break

But they'd be chumps if Democrats cooperated with Republicans, but were persistently and compulsively obstructed by Republicans.
stupid inbred reactionary thought.

Splendid.

I'd intended Hollerith as a chronology marker rather than the font of all that followed. Indeed, Babbage made his contributions, as did others.

Let's not forget, "computers" were once human; a fact & time perhaps not yet lost to living memory.

Some of our early computers were electro-mechanical monsters.
One design consisted of magnetic rings, strung on a matrix of vertical, horizontal, and diagonal wires.

Such contraptions were vulnerable to mechanical disruption. Computer etymologists have traced the term "computer bug" to a moth that invaded one of these contraptions, and prevented from correctly performing calculations.

IBM founder Thomas John Watson (1874-1956) predicted only a few (~5?) computers would ever be needed. IBM also made time clocks, and meat scales (& during WWII, military carbines).

"endorsing" a #32

No.
Not "endorsing".
Explaining.

sear has NEVER advocated partisanship trumping citizenship !!

It's the Republicans that have already done that, as quoted in #31.

mindless inability to parrot anything but the same "well they did it first"
++

You are a boomer.
Did you have any brothers and sisters? were you ever in a fight with them in the house over something trivial?

When a parent walks in the room to stop it they say "I don't care who started this- it ends now!" capiche?

"mindless inability to parrot anything but the same "well they did it first"" #36

The metaphor "parrot" in your usage is a verb stemming from the noun. It refers to the bird that has the vocal apparatus to mimic human speech tones, but lacks the intellect to comprehend complex human philosophy.
Parrots "say" only what they've earlier heard.

As I've already informed you, I'm "explaining", not parroting.

"mindless inability to parrot anything but the same "well they did it first"" #36

If that explanation is incorrect, please correct me. But you simply mislabeling it "parrot"ing is not refutation. It's not even persuasive to free-thinkers.

Further: your dismissal is naïve in the extreme.
By your line of reasoning, you think the Republicans should savagely abuse Democrats; and that Democrats should by Republican political lap-dogs in return.

How UTTERLY preposterous!! If you actually think that's rational, you live in a fantasy world.

WE ??? Who is this we ?

The boomers are 60+ years old, a dying generation....

WE didn't teach our kids to hate anybody, burn the flag, spit on vets, riot in the streets or loot stores.....our esteemed public schools did most of that....
and now its the neo-lib Democrat party using those indoctrinated idiots to overthrow a democratically elected president to regain power
...and if it requires bringing down the country, so be it.....
Accept the outcome of the election? Never.
