Trump at 50%?

Something doesn't add up.

You can't hit a mainstream media outlet without hearing how the Trump administration is in disarray; the daily du jour Russian connection and impending impeachment; and in some cases of severe derangement, invoking the 25th amendment to declare Trump mentally unfit for office.

I think it's safe to claim that Trump has been subjected to a historic barrage of negative press for a new president. Yet, his numbers are climbing according to NBC/Politico [I avoided Rasmussen on purpose].

Maybe it's because consumer confidence is at a 15 year high---and it spiked after Trump got elected.

Or maybe the media's 24/7 Trump-bash fest is to no avail or even back-firing. I've warned them of the latter lol.

Thoughts?

well you know.. the usual suspects in the press can only nag on Trump .
The talking heads chatter and chatter over nothingness
But it's really not about anything except outcomes - and it's way too early.

How interesting - whenever a poll is posted w/ lower #'s, Darth & the other Trumpeteers are pretty quick to jeer how "way off" polls where for the election and how no polls can be trusted.

And yeah - 50% is horrible for a new President.

It's the trend lol.

He's on the way up. How can that possibly be, Thing?

Results, results, results lol.

Probably the only real feather Trump can put in his hat, at this point, are the consumer confidence numbers. But even there, the uptick in confidence is a result of Trump's promise to reduce regulations, cut taxes and etc.

And economic confidence is just confidence---it doesn't necessarily translate into economic reality. It all goes back to results.

The interesting question is how the left will respond if it does become reality. Will they come out of derangement mode? Can they?

You kept "Hussein" in your name throughout one of the most prolonged periods of economic growth in American history. So maybe you shouldn't be pointing fingers on that one?

You mean the weakest recovery since the depression?

What do you say about the consumer confidence numbers? How do you spin that?

So, you spin "prolonged period of economic growth" into "weakest recovery," and ask me how I'm going to spin something? Is this a spin-off?

I think from the beginning, a LOT of people have seen Trump as a successful businessman, and think that translates into being a good economic President. It doesn't, but clearly, a lot of people still believe that.

And it's good to see you admit that you had Obama Derangement for 8 years.

The poll question was "Is trump keeping his campaign promises?" What do the other pollsters say, using this exact question?

It's not a favorability rating. If it's a job rating he's still below 50%.

It's not just me. Just about everyone outside the liberal bubble thinks Obama sucked on the economy.

Including people in all those Blue Wall states Hillary lost. But you're right that people perceive Trump to be good on the economy.

If he delivers, enjoy your time in the wilderness.

Oh, it wouldn't be a complete discussion w/ you without you throwing in how you think the GOP is going to control everything FOREVAH!

'18 is just around the corner, Darthy. Can't wait to see your spin then.

That's the point no? All during the election the President's core base could never climb above 40% - 42%, now...even if the same polling data is used, its the first time the numbers have climbed to 50%. Who knows what the real numbers are...but one things for sure, after almost 4 months of constant negative press since Nov. 8th 2016...the numbers have climbed regardless of the absolute accuracy of the polls, the one quantifiable constant is the increase in popularity.

Apparently talking over the heads of the press works. :) And it tastes like sour piss to the press. Its the same tactic used by Ronald Reagan with one difference, The president can now use the www to hold his own daily talk with THE PEOPLE. Instead of second hand skewed information with a negative spin...THE PEOPLE get the message from the horse's mouth...or ass, depending upon political affiliation, in real time.

You don't believe the press is biased? Just tune into to any cable news network...24/7 and one can be guaranteed one thing.....TRUMP with some negative connotation will be steaming across the bottom of the screen. In Fact the % of negative press is well over 75%....the highest in history for a new administration, even higher than the 70s when the press was attacking Nixon with 72% negative reporting. Just imagine what kind of numbers would result if the press were simply Neutral instead of Yellow.

When the GDP reaches 3....game over, regardless of what lies the press presents...the people will ignore the fake news totally. Its a most difficult thing to debunk the demonstrable truth.
