If the federal government wholly controls medicine the only sources available will be what it chooses to give to us.

Nothing is "wrong" with universal healthcare but my opposition to it stems from the fact that our federal government is not authorized in our constitution to create and implement such a thing. Our constitution lists what our government can do and then leaves the rest to the states. If we passed a real constitutional amendment for something like healthcare then that would satisfy that aspect of my opposition. Other reasons why I disagree with it is because I don't think tax money should go toward things like like this because ultimately prices will continue to go up as the population grows and medication prices grow which means the taxes to support the system will need to grow. Another reason I'm opposed is because I think there are some things that is the responsibility of the individual.

It is a racket, but the only way to remove that is to make it non-profit or minimal profit. Insurance companies are part of the reason costs are so high.

Lots is wrong with universal healthcare, as it does not exist universally, thus the USA can not care for the billions of immigrants that will come to get it

Thanks I'll be ok it's just a couple of bruised ribs. I agree that the insurance companies are part of the issue but I also think that allowing for more completion could helps long with other changes. Having the government determine our healthcare like many people on the left want would ensure no completion and allow the government to set prices that we would be stuck with and held to by our taxes.

I own GSK shares, they are steady and pay a good dividend. Some of that R&D could be moved to places like Cuba, India or even China. There would be massive savings in drug costs.

Well that's not true, nothing to stop you getting drugs from Canada at present. Anyway who said the government would be the only source, you'd still have private healthcare.

The point of this thread is republicans have said repeatedly that they have their own healthcare plan waiting for Obamacare to be repealed .. turns out they never had a plan waiting .. they never had shit but poutrage.

Obamacare is more popular than Donald Trump and it took democrats less than a year to roll it out.

Republicans have had 7 years to develop their own plan .. still can't figure it out.
