Trump: ‘Nobody knew that health care could be so complicated’

He was singing a different tune a month ago.

Trump maintained that ObamaCare must be repealed, but replaced “very quickly,” according to the Times.

“Long to me would be weeks,” Trump said of how long it should take to pass a replacement. “It won’t be repeal and then two years later go in with another plan.”

“We have to get to business. ObamaCare has been a catastrophic event,” the president-elect said.

Trump: ‘Nobody knew that health care could be so complicated’

I just saw the sound-bite on the news.

What a DOPE !!

Trump thought healthcare was going to be easy ?!?!

People with brains knew.

No, they thought they knew. The word for that is hubris.

They took a system that needed tweaked and did a major overhaul instead. Democrats basically trashed the healthcare delivery system: Obama, Pelosi, Jonathan Gruber and the rest.

It's bad enough, that it's a politically viable move on Trump's part to stand by and let it crash so the democrats can own it.

Not that I think he will.

of course it's "complicated" -it's also in a "death spiral"..Dem's like to overlook that detail.

Good luck trying to keep pre-existing conditions automatically covered without high premiums/government support

It has to be self funding - we already have a ton of healthcare programs that are taking the US broke -
basic health care can't add to that burden

I give them credit for trying -universal coverage is needed.
I damn them for ignoring Bernie and the wing of the party that tried to transition to Single Pay.

Obamacare was never designed to be the final product

Single payer is the only sensible option.

LOL

Aren't you getting tired yet from all of this spin?

Trump lied the whole campaign. He had a plan ready to go - they were going to repeal & replace on Day 1. And it would be better, and would cover EVERYONE.

LOL. This is actually starting to be fun.

There was nothing wrong with trying to improve the system. An incremental approach would have gotten bipartisan support.

Too many lol's. That's telling.

That one must have stung lol.

I don't have the time or desire to read all the context around the quote but on its own WTF? Of course it's freaking complicated. It's like 1/6th of our econony. Just a weird comment to make

How is it in a death spiral? A record number of people signed up for 2017.

He's kind of right lol.

'No one knew how complicated healthcare was'.

The government bean counters sure as hell didn't.

Medicine is complicated

Healthcare is not

Let the free market decide

Once you grasp the anatomy and physiology medicine is 90% common sense. The healthcare sector IS complicated. It was way over Gruber's head.

And it's been made needlessly complicated by the government; the insurance industry and trial lawyers. It's gotten so bad RN's have been reduced to pencil pushers who manage paper work instead of giving patient care.

But yes, free market is the way to go. Open up the insurance market so there's interstate competition. But the biggest problem isn't the cost of insurance---that's only a reflection of the cost of healthcare itself. Make hospitals compete for price. If you want 'free market' in healthcare, that's what it means.
