Constituents Flood Town Hall After GOP Congressman Holds Event 60 Miles Away

As concerned citizens all across the country flood town halls in Republican districts, Virginia GOP Congressman Dave Brat came up with what he thought was a genius plan – hold his event a whopping 60 miles away from where most of his constituents live.

The voters of Virginia’s 7th district weren’t having it.

So many of Brat’s constituents showed up to the town hall that the street was lined with people hoping to attend the event, which was held at a restaurant in Blackstone.

The venue quickly reached its full capacity – roughly 200 people – and many were forced to “attend” the event from the sidewalk just outside the building.

One woman who stopped by Brat’s event said, according to her handmade sign, that she drove 165 miles to get there – and, no, she wasn’t paid to attend.

While many, many constituents showed up in hopes of getting inside and sharing their concerns, there were also large crowds of protesters outside the town hall expressing their displeasure with the Republican congressman:

Let this be a lesson for other Republicans planning to make it difficult for their constituents to find them. Instead of dodging town halls or making it more difficult for folks to attend, just have some courage and face the people.

Hiding from your constituents, after all, only motivates them more, as Congressman Brat found out on Tuesday.

I don't get it. Why would a republican politician go into a situation like that given the breakdown in civil behavior by the left? If you voted for him and you have a beef, write a damn letter. Chances are, at least someone on his staff is going to see it. If you're GOP, chances are you just ain't gonna show up for one of these. And if you're a jackass, you probably just want an excuse to to wear a stupid pink hat and hold up a banner that says "keep yer hands off my pussy!". The very LAST thing anyone on the left wants these days is a sane, rational issue oriented discourse with anyone on the right. I get that these things are an American tradition, but I keep up with my elected representatives via the interwebs, and I've also written quite a few letters(I always sign them, "a pissed off republican that didn't vote for you", and they're all democrats, so nothing ever gets done, but I get a few laughs)

Of course you don't get it.

You make one assumption after another and offer no corroboration to back any of them up.

Mia love recently had these protesters go to her office and ask when she was doing a town hall. They were offered a chance to go inside right then and share their concerns. They refused and denounced Mia love.

The people dont want a town hall. They want a place where their protest can be publicisized.

Not making assumptions, therefore not trying to back them up. I'm simply trying to come up with a scenario where it would make sense for a republican to walk into a room full of democrats and paid operatives, just so they can shout him down without listening to whatever he has to say. If it's not happening, then fine, hold the damn town hall. But think about it, the people that voted republican KNOW where he stands(so do the democrats, and that's not an assumption). If the folks who voted for him want to attend for updates or respectful questions, fine(and of course fine for the democrats too). But this stuff, as it stands, is counter-productive. You should know though, that we(and by we I mean everyone, not just republicans)are watching, 2018 is coming, and you guys are on a pretty big losing streak.

See, you ASSUME it's a "room full of Democrats and paid operatives", yet you've got no proof.

You assume what you like so you can continue lying to yourself about what cowards the Congressional GOP have been since Trump was elected.

They left because they weren't allowed to record Ms Love's answers to their questions.

Ms Love doesn't won't hold a town hall because she saw what happened to Rep Chaffetz when he held a town hall meeting.

Because those ppl didn't wanna go inside you claim "the ppl" don't want a town hall meeting??

There have been several of them & ppl on the left & right are not happy-this is dumbocracy in action, you should love it..............

Wrong again, I agree with you 100% on the congressional GOP, most of them anyway. And I ASSUME there are some republicans in those town halls, you can probably pick them out by looking for the quiet ones with their hands raised

Dave mingles with constituants all across his rather broad district and handled this one well.
Soros' army tried to make a joke if it but failed.
