Blogger forced to pay 'substantial sum' to Melania Trump in defamation lawsuit

A Maryland blogger has been forced to pay a “substantial sum” to Melania Trump as part of a settlement for a defamation lawsuit over an article containing unsubstantiated claims that the first lady once worked as an escort, her lawyers announced Tuesday.

“I posted an article on August 2, 2016 about Melania Trump that was replete with false and defamatory statements about her,” Webster Tarpley, the 71-year-old blogger, said in a statement by Trump’s attorneys, according to the Washington Post.

“I acknowledge that these false statements were very harmful and hurtful to Mrs. Trump and her family, and therefore I sincerely apologize to Mrs. Trump, her son, her husband and her parents for making these false statements,” Trump’s lawyers -- in comments attributed to Tarpley -- wrote in their statement.

I have always found that fascinating about our laws. What if the prostitute just brought a camera along and said hey, this is for "porn" and then "accidentally" doesn't tape anything? Did a crime occur?
 
I've seen loads of comedians joke about it. My guess is that one needs to be licensed to film legitimate pornography, but, if cops walked-in on

How greedy do you have to be, having the supposed billions the Trump family has, to go after a 71 year old man's money?

Sounds to me like this blogger made vefy specific claims and accusations that he presented as factual.

That's a far cry legally, from facetiously opining on a message board that you think she might have been or likely was a hooker.

And maybe whoever it is you're talking about here on this board will quit making disparaging comments about Melanomia when every one of you right-wing apes apologize for and take back every nasty, disgusting comment you all made about Michelle Obama and Hillary Clinton.
