I don't know if it is an Alinsky tactic, but, when I saw Douchebag Donald shove the moral equivalency canard in O'Reilly's face, it made me smile. My entire life, whenever I discuss world leaders with leftists, they always point to America's own actions as a way of deflecting criticism away from any given problem.
