Gov Brown demands storm relief money from Trump. I say let California drown

We have billions in unfunded pension liabilities. Who is going to pay for that? How are we going to afford an army? Who is going to pay S.S. and Medicaid for people in the state?

Tough love.....
California is the 9th richest state in the union....Federal money is finite and Federal debt is out of control .... and a state that has let its spending get them in trouble needs to clean up their own house before asking for federal handouts....

If CA would put citizens, living and paying taxes in their state before taking on the care of non-citizens in the country illegally
and kowtowing to union demands (knowing they can't not live up those demands), they probably wouldn't need Federal handouts.....

The neediest, poorest states and states hit with disasters beyond their ability to deal with through no fault of their own, should get some kind of of priority
with scarce federal money....

There are 14 states that pay into the federal gov. more money than
is returned to them....California being number 14....

Odd, I've never the other 13 bitch and whine about paying more
in than they're getting back....

As of 2016, only 2 of the 14 are sanctuary states, California and Colorado.

Here in lies the problem with liberal ideas and policies. They do the "feel good" things that earn polling points, but they miss us guys who have been sitting out here watching and taking notes. They think things through only to win. What they fail to see is everyone loses. You do well from learning the lessons of your losses, and either refine them or shit can them.

The Democrats embody the definition of insanity; "Doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results".

We see the results, thank you. California failed.

That's what I like about you, cawacko.
We may not always agree; but most of the time you are able to put things into a perspective that most don't want to accept, seeing as how acceptance would destroy their original complaint.

If the Oroville Dam goes, they'll get Federal Aid.....it could go anytime.....

All the people can't be held responsible for the idiots that run the state....

So why couldn't you leftist bozos comprehend that after Katrina.

Meanwhile, the President *CAN* in the event of an insurrection.

Posse Comitatus wasn't in effect during Katrina, fat head.

Don't feel too bad though, Stench didn't know either.

sure, but you can't take the red counties with you.......

Who the fuck wants them?

Are 97 of the nation's 100 poorest counties in red states?

The Posse Comitatus Act is a United States federal law (18 U.S.C. § 1385, original at 20 Stat. 152) signed on June 18, 1878 by President Rutherford B. Hayes. The purpose of the act – in concert with the Insurrection Act of 1807 – is to limit the powers of the federal government in using its military personnel to act as domestic law enforcement personnel. The PCA does not completely prohibit, nor prevent the use of the military from performing law enforcement. The President does have two direct constitutional exceptions to the PCA, identified in Title 32, Section 215.4 of the Code of Federal Regulations: emergency authority and protection of Federal property and functions.

Indirect involvement of the military in law enforcement activities is permitted as long as the military has “not subjected civilians to the exercise of military power that is regulatory, proscriptive, or compulsory in nature.”

This allows the military to provide equipment, transportation, training, supplies, and services to law enforcement officials as long as it does “not directly and actively participate in law enforcement tasks.”

Congress also enacted specific exceptions to the PCA allowing the military to provide disaster relief and protection of public health and safety under the Robert T. Stafford Disaster Relief Act enacted in Title 42 U.S.C. Section 5170b.

The Stafford Act (signed in 1988) gives the President broad discretion to find that a major disaster exists, requiring emergency response after a declaration request from the Governor of the affected state.

Once the President has declared an emergency or major disaster and invoked the Stafford Act, the Governor of the affected state can request use of the resources of the DoD for emergency work that is essential for the preservation of life and property.

The DoD can provide military support to include clearance and removal of debris and wreckage, and temporary restoration of essential public facilities and services for up to 10 days under the Stafford Act.

My state and the ones directly to the north and south are red states. In those 3 states, there are 6 of the total 63 congressional districts nationwide where more than 1 in 5 get food stamps. Of those 6, 5 are represented by Democrats, in fact BLACK Democrats, and have a population where the majority is BLACK.

When you put things into perspective, it tells you the Democrat areas within those states make the state look bad. It's not the red districts doing it.

This chart would be interesting to see under the supplemental poverty measure which takes into account cost of living. Because in that measure California has the highest poverty in the country.

But as Polifact said many of the poorest blue areas are next to rich areas and thus are offset. Those tend to be urban areas. Rural areas are more isolated in that sense thus these rankings.
