II) He tried. Obama tried numerous times, in several ways. And his succeeding could have saved the U.S. $tax $payer nearly $One $Million $Dollars per [former]Gitmo detainee per year by simply moving them Stateside.
Clearly Republicans don't care about $saving the U.S. tax payer $money.

Senator Obama expressed a sincere & legitimate intention.
President Obama made numerous attempts to make good on his campaign commitment, and was thwarted by reflexive, compulsive domestic partisan opposition / obstructionism.

a) I gave Senator Obama no time for it. Senator Obama didn't have presidential authority.
b) Senator Obama promised to close Gitmo within one year of his inauguration.
c) President Obama tried to meet his own 12 month deadline, but was thwarted; at the expense of perhaps a $half a $Billion to the U.S. $Tax $Payer over 8 years. Thanks Republicans!!
d) Despite having been thwarted in keeping his promise to complete the task within 12 months, President Obama made several more attempts, but was successfully thwarted by "borrow & spend" Republicans each and every time.

I didn't vote for Obama in 2012, but to try to compare him to Trump is ridiculous. The only thing you ever offer up is "you can keep your health insurance." Trump has one of these every day - sometimes 2 or 3. Trump is a textbook pathological liar.
