They've become the party and people of protest, riots, and political strife. A mix of anarchy and a betrayal of their former closely held beliefs. A radical party of socialism.

One needs to look no further than the Berkeley riots that took place. A blatant attempt to silence a man's free speech. What was so dangerous about Milo that he mustn't be allowed to speak? Perhaps it was the very idea that he's right, and the left can't debate him. Solution? Shut him down. Don't let him speak.

This will backfire very badly for the left wingers; Many people whom are liberal and support the left because they (used) to be party/people of openness and free speech. Instead they are the party and people of bullying PC tactics. And orwellian groupthink. Followed by allout rioting and strife.

People are quietly leaving the movement. They are staying home on election day, or voting for the otherside. Dems have lost all houses of congress, Potus, Scotus, and 900 seats in state legislators.

I firmly believe they are marginalizing themselves into a fringe group, and out of mainstream politics for sometime. Possibly for good.

They did this before in the 60s, but even when the party maintained a strong traditional wing they were unsuccessful.

This time the party is consumed by the activists with virtually no respectable element.

So yes, they are on the brink of irrelevance.

The Berkley riots were not leftists, they were anarchists. I would bet most of the folks rioting didn't even vote. You want to know who they are, get on twitter and look up the hashtag #ANTIFA or #Ungovernable or #DisruptJ20. They make fun of the liberals too and basically call them a bunch of pansies for not punching Nazi's in the face. Why do people not look shit up before they start spewing dumb shit?

I'm sure good liberals such as yourself are denouncing these groups and are calling for freedom of speech and support for Milo right? Oh wait, no support or dissovowing of these groups. We all know the left is now in support of these groups, and have turned on their own former beliefs. The camouflage is off, we know what you are now.

I believe that's a distinct possibility.

The left lacks a message and a strategy. Hating on Trump is neither a message or a strategy.

As of last election, identity politics, global warming environmentalism, the obsession with heretofore unheard of genders and etc, is no longer a winning electoral strategy.

It's ironic that the fate of the left is in the hands of Donald Trump: if Trump succeeds, especially on the jobs and economic front, the left is Done. The democrat party will be forced to become what they once were---the party of the working class, with the left being reduced to fringe status in their own party.

But if Trump fails, all bets are off. Maybe in that sense the left's best play is to oppose Trump so he fails.

And we know what you are. You're the party of Trump - who has an historically low approval rating for a new President, who lies every day, and who Americans already have "chaos fatigue" over.

And that's going to last for awhile - probably long after Trump is gone. He has already redefined your party (and not for the better). In an election where you won the electoral by 73,000 votes in 3 states and lost the popular by 3 million, it ain't gonna be good for you the next time around.
 
The Republican party has undergone a reactionary and fear induced lurched to the extreme right, and quickly. A gradual and glacial paced movement to the left is a megatrend that will not ever cease, so long as science, reason and peaceful institutions control our thoughts and actions.

Sorry, country people, the left is anything but marginalized. I suggest you gobble some antidepressants, turn off Fox News, get back to your plows and leave the important civic minded and larger issues to the people with the capability of attending to them..

The answer to the topic question is not merely ABSOLUTELY NOT, but that it would actually be impossible. Not until the end of time will either left or right be marginalized.

Political parties come and go. Don't take my word for it. Just ask any member of the Whig party you meet at the grocery store checkout line.

But there is no "Left" party or "Right" party. These are not partisan designations. Instead they are the termini that define the political ideology spectrum. And that spectrum won't vanish until politics itself vanishes.

Don't hold your breath waiting for that.

And that was 8 years ago. Almost immediately after, the Tea Party came to be. Almost immediately after that, the media began to *lie* about them by labeling them racist.

Obama was elected in 2008 and within a political blink of the eye, the Tea Party had their message and their strategy. And in what became a trend all the way up to Trump's election in 2016, the TP had to fend off not only the left, but their own party's establishment as well.

I see nothing like that with the left. They are basically just unhinged.

a) I agree that candidate HRC failed to offer a vision of promising future sufficient to win the election. Instead she offered what Trump didn't & hasn't.

Thus the 2016 presidential election was in some sense a voter choice between competence without grand visions, vs grand visions but zero political experience to achieve the promises.

The promises won.
We'll know in 4 years whether the voters got what they voted for.

The left has always been controlled by social radical anarchists....with the objective being, changing the United States of America into a society that mirrors other social communist nations around the globe.

In recent months they have simply tossed away the mask of political correctness and came out of the closet to reveal their true nature...a cancer on the free republic that is the United States of America. They are fighting a losing battle because they represent less than 25% of the US population and project the falsehood they are main stream because they control the media, in both the entertainment industry and news industry, and they control the educational system in this nation.

As I predicted....THEY WENT FULL BAT SHIT CRAZY with the attempt to derail the Presidents pick on education...why? Because they fear the power will return to the state and local boards of education and the national indoctrination dumbing down our children will no longer be the norm because the states fear losing federal funds. The states will not longer fear a threat that don't exist. :)

They could case less about the other appointees other than the two they use to circumvent THE PEOPLE'S REPRESENTATION IN CONRESS....education and the EPA. They don't care who the DOJ appoints as AG.....they have many sleeper agents planted up and down the Judicial system. Just as observed with the latest dog and phony show where they are attempting to Ignore the constitution and the Presidents authority to direct immigration.....the leftist judges are attempting to draw an opinion not from the actual words found in the 4 corners of the EO in question...but rather from rhetoric spoken on the campaign trail.....that is not reviewing law that is making law that does not exist.
