Trump's lie du jour - murder rate "highest it's been in 47 years"

the difference between liberals and us is that you take everything Trump says literally, and we take your insanity literally......perhaps you can find that other group of liberals who share half a brain and put your heads together......

And maybe next time you can elect a President who doesn't lie every day?

Deal?

"Why oops?

Can you show me where Trump tied the 47 years comment to Chicago's crime rate?" T1 #41

I can.

I've heard of Chicago before. I think it's a village in Iowa or something. But anyway, if it's not in America, it's probably close by.

BUT !!

Chicago Illinois IS NOT AMERICA !!

It's but one city in the United States of America.

According to the FBI stats cited by CBS, the murder rate is near a half-century decline.

So are the Trumpettes just stupid? Or are they both stupid AND crooked?

I'll bet if you're living in New Orleans, Chicago, Detroit, Atlanta, Baltimore, Oakland, Little Rock, Kansas City, Rockford, Milwaukee, Memphis, Birmingham or MS-13 bullet riddled Albuquerque... it feels allot like crime is higher today than it has ever been.

If you're in a Republican Party controlled and guided town, yes, things have been getting steadily better for decades.

Overall, by the Statistics, when averaged for the entire nation, things have slightly improved.

But if you're living in a long term Democrat controlled town... well, things aren't looking so good:

The most dangerous cities in America

Most Dangerous Cities In The United States - WorldAtlas.com

https://www.neighborhoodscout.com/top-lists/highest-murder-rate-cities/

And then there is the cooking of the Statics as well.

According to the "Official" Statistics, "Right Wing Extremists" commit far more terrorist acts than Muslims... which doesn't quite fit anyone's recollection of the News over the last couple of years...

Until...

You find out Umpqua College was classified as "Lone Wolf mentally disturbed Person", even though he asked people if they were Christians, to decide to shoot them, or required them to recite passages of the Koran...

You find out that officially the Ft. Hood shooter was classified as "Work Place Violence"

You find out that...

that the Statistics have been manipulated into a pack of lies.

How's about this one, Grinder?

Is Trump a genius for making this up, because we're all talking about crime now, and America is all afraid again?

What a brilliant man. He's inspirational.

Albuquerque is, and has been controlled by a Republican mayor since 2009. New Mexico has had a Republican governor for the last 6 years. So much for your theory.

what "anecdotal" - READ the link I posted "the 30 largest U.S. cities saw a double-digit increase in their murder rate in 2016" - it's not anecdotal at all

The anti-Trump hacks are looking to score points but as is practically always the case Trump has a point---irrespective of how clumsily the point was presented.

I have no idea where the "47" came from. Like a lot of TrumpSpeak I do the same -I don't pay attention to the particulars -i look at WTHell he is trying to say- and indeed the Big Cities ( by and large) are killing zones..

which is much more important then '47' -one way or the other

I don't know lol. I swear, sometimes I think he does it on purpose so the media gets sucked into talking about something they'd rather not.

But who knows. In either event, some of the large urban areas are, literally, no safer than Fallujah. On the campaign trail Trump talked about inner city violence quite a bit and he's demonstrated that he's quite serious about his campaign promises.

Hardly the mark of a liar.

One thing about Obama -he could sway you or smile at you,and play the perfect politician.
Of course everything was poll tested, and the media loved the attention ( and he was one of theirs)
so I had to listen to what he was saying past the surface to nail his ideas down.

Trump is completely the opposite. Like this stuff with Putin. O'Reilly brought up the fact he's a 'killer'-
which is mandatory to say - like McCain's "KGB thug" is mandatory.
And Trump should have agreed - but he probably did not want to insult Putin by calling him a killer.

In the long run a realignment with Russia is much more important then knee jerk obvious excoriations
but Trump isn't a sophisticated speaker and the American press latches onto the killer - not seeing the need for a realignment.

Anyways...I look at outcomes with Trump. It's early but I think many of his policies are correct, so I overlook his clumsy speech

I'm baffled by how such a simple arithmetic principle could completely elude such otherwise seemingly sensible people.

For a person ranked 4th best in the world, would it be a lie to say they're in the top 3? OF COURSE IT WOULD !! THEY'RE NOT !!!

For a person ranked 9th best in the world, would it be a lie to say they're in the top 5? OF COURSE IT WOULD !! THEY'RE NOT !!!

For a person ranked 48th best in the world, would it be a lie to say they're in the top 27? OF COURSE IT WOULD !! THEY'RE NOT !!!

Can't ANY of you see a pattern here?

Here's the rule Onesteins:

The segment of the population referenced must include the individual or phenomenon referred to.

The posted topic is murder rate.
The murder rate our most recent available statistics* indicate that we'd have to go back more than 47 years to find a murder rate as low or lower. Just what part of any of that baffles you?

* There is often a lag of a year or more for such stats.

And you would think Obama didn't tell his share of whoppers lol. And a few of them took money out of people's pockets. I'll keep Trump and his factual errors.

I think it was in 2009 before his Cairo speech that he claimed the US was one of the largest Muslim nations. Lots of jaws dropped at that one. No matter how you sliced it, it simply wasn't true. But did the media go into overdrive claiming Obama was a habitual liar?

Not no, but hell no lol. You had to go to Breitbart or wherever to read on it. That's what gets lost on the anti-Trump zealots. The media bias was off the charts for 8 full years---and they were oblivious to it.

Now all of sudden, factual errors become lies. Trump supporters are like 'whatever '.

Yeah, Tom - real comparable.

You're not 100% stupid. Close, but not 100%. You know Trump is a completely dishonest human being.
Yes Trump is a flawed human being in many ways but then so was Churchill, Kennedy and many others. I still feel he was and is a better alternative to the HillBillys.

"And you would think Obama didn't tell his share of whoppers lol." DO #54

I sure do, lol.

The conspicuous disparity is the "whopper" ratio between Trump & Obama. Trump may have already told more whoppers, done more flip-flop-flipping less than one month into his 48 month administration than Obama did in 96 months.

It's not merely the sheer volume of Trump whoppers. It's the complete fantasy world they provide us insight into.

I'm gunna build a wall.
It's gunna stretch from the Gulf coast to the Pacific coast.
Mexico is going to pay for it.

But since elected, part of Trump's great wall may be a fence. And by Mexico paying for it, Trump meant U.S. consumers that drink tequila or eat avocados will pay for it via a 20% tax.

Many recent U.S. presidents have lied.

I did not have sexual relations with that woman, Monica Lewinsky. - Clinton
"I am not a crook." - RM Nixon
"Intelligence gathered by this and other governments leaves no doubt, that the Iraq regime continues to possess and conceal some of the most lethal weapons ever devised."
U.S. President Bush (the younger) televised address to the U.S. March 17th, 2003

It's just that Trump pulls them out of an orifice in his anatomy without giving them the smell test first.
And his personal integrity is so low, Trump CLEARLY has no concern about further damaging his own credibility.

I can probably speak for the majority of Trump supporters.

We don't care who pays for the wall or whether it's a literal wall from coast to coast. We care about the flood of illegal aliens coming across the southern border.

We don't care about the same things the talking heads in the media care about. And I think that would be fairly evident by now lol.

Besides, Trump has gotten zero credit for fulfilling his campaign promises. He said he was going to nominate a conservative to SCOTUS---check. Said he was going to reign-in the EPA---check. Said he was going to put a moratorium on immigration from problem countries---check.

When was the last time a president moved so fast so early on fulfilling campaign promises? Never.

Obama never did close Gitmo and he had 8 years to do it.

"he was the only candidate who wasn't a lying, cheating bitch who sold out her country for personal gain......." PP #57

Oh!
You mean like the over a dozen other Republican primary candidates including JEB!, Walker, Christie, Kasich, Carson, etc.

Yes.
Thank you for reminding us what a cesspool of humanity the GOP ran in the presidential primary last year.

We KNOW the Republican party is in deep, deep trouble when Donald Trump is the cream of the crop!

that whole apology tour was disgraceful, and an early look at his abandonment of the middle east to the winds.
Except for the rather useless Iran deal -that put Iran's economy into overdrive.
He was an utter screw up in the region
