Trump picks Gorsuch

"I mean Dems don't want to face the truth. Most men would rather be led by an imbecile like Donald Trump than by a woman. Pretty much any woman." MH #17

?
I thought the Dems were the first to nominate a female for the presidency, the first in history. No?
Were the Dems not also the first to nominate a female to the ticket, in VP pick Geraldine Feraro?

What is it you think Dems don't know about female leaders? Do you think they haven't heard about Maggi Thatcher? Or current British Prime Minister Theresa May? A world leader given the prestige of being the first world leader to have an audience, a summit with President Trump? Does the name Angela Merkel not wring a belle?

Another "beam me up, Scotty" moment. McConnell coming out & lecturing Democrats (much like Yurt in the OP) about how they should give Trump's nominee an up or down vote, just like the GOP did w/ Clinton's 1st 2 nominees and Obama's 1st 2 nominees. Of course, he doesn't mention Obama's "other" nominee.

His credentials are incredible. If the democrats are still pissy about Garland, let's not forget what Biden said. Democrats need to grow up. If it was important to get an up or down vote with Garland, then it should be important now.

I doubt it will happen, Democrats love to whine about the very things they support and do.

They will intentionally drag this out and force the Nuclear Option. They are not done. They're just trying to decide how publicly shitty they will be and will it be worth the possibility of losing their careers.

They certainly will claim they are.

For the good of America and all....

t #18 nailed it for me.
I've heard one sound-bite from Goresuch so far. Sounds fine. But the rumblings from other key Republicans, McConnell & Ryan among them; their mentions of Trump have seemed like them munching on a crap sandwich. So like t #18 I'd like to know what McConnell, Ryan, et all think of the choice.

Come to think of it I wouldn't mind knowing what M.L. Schumer thinks.

what if mccain or graham fucked him over out of spite? lol oh my god would that be something

That may be what breaks the NO. This lady (Democrat in the know) was very confident they could block it. She was on with Martha McCallum. I didn't get her name because I caught the tail end.

McCain and Graham are all kinds of pissed at President Trump.

" force the Nuclear Option." M6 #24

Majority Leader Harry Reid threatened to do that while the Republicans were in the obstructionist role. Minority Leader McConnell talked him down.

Now that the shoe is on the other foot, it'll be interesting to see McConnell & Schumer handle it.

btw:
As a native New Yorker, and a son of a native New Yorker, I note that there is more than one New Yorker as primary here. Both Trump & Schumer.

PS

About what?
Would you please post a quotation w/ link? I for one would like to know what their objection is. I often agree with them, and would appreciate their perspective.

Could you be any more of a hack?

Do you think Republicans behaved well by not even giving Obama's pick a hearing? Yes or no.

Idiot.
And you obviously believe the Democrats had a right to want a vote, but of course now, you don't want to vote. The pubs were merely following tradition and Biden, but you're too much of a hack to see it. You whine about tradition with Comey and hold the exact opposite stance with SCOTUS picks. What do you call that?

I felt Garland should have had an up and down vote, but since the dems had set precedent for saying no votes during an election year, I really didn't care.

Good know you wanted a garland vote and of course now do a 180, and you call me a hack, lol.

"Merely following tradition?" What a disgusting apologist. Sickening.

And where did I do a 180? I think this guy should get a hearing & a vote. Trump is President & its his right to nominate who he wants - just like it was Obama's a YEAR AGO.

So we agree he should get a vote and you're calling me a hack, lmao.

You've really lost your mind. Have you forgotten what Biden said about SCOTUS picks during an election year? You're mad at me, who knows why and the Republicans for doing exactly what the dems wanted to do. You are the hack here, you just can't see it.

I haven't researched each post, so I ought not take sides.

BUT !!

I sincerely appreciate the methodical approach. I ignore posts that dismiss with ad hom insult. It's a shame there are barbarians primitive enough to post them.

But quoting a source, and making a logical argument seems to me a very constructive approach. My thanks to all that do.

Remember Miguel Estrada? Dems can fuck themselves forever after that nonsense.

"Barbarians, lol, I hope that post was tongue in cheek."

Have you not read any of these flaming insult binges?

I believe more than one of the following definitions applies.

barbarian (bär-bâr´ê-en) noun
1.A member of a people considered by those of another nation or group to have a primitive civilization.
2.A fierce, brutal, or cruel person.
3.An insensitive, uncultured person; a boor. See synonyms at boor.

[French barbarien, from barbare, from Latin barbarus, barbarous. See barbarous.]
- barbar´ianism noun

Some that post here may simply be inured to it, as it appears not uncommon here. Whatever they think such hostile, insulting ad hom adds to the conversation ...

If the Dems have this much problems with simply confirming the cabinet -i doubt they are gonna give it up for Gorsuch..

Fillibuster and Nuclear option here we go

The Dems are using the same belligerent obstructionist tactics the Republicans have been using on Democrats since the previous millennium.

It's called "karma".

What I don't know is whether the Republicans are so stupid they literally don't understand the wisdom of Matthew 7:12

"Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets." Matthew 7:12 (the Golden Rule)

sometimes translated as: Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

or whether they're so treacherous that they're willing to ignore the considerations of pragmatism at the expense of their duty to the People that pay them, merely to advance their own partisan agenda.

The ironies are stark, and cutting.

a) It's the Republicans that wear their Christianity on their sleeves *.
That merely magnifies their hypocrisy for them to then simultaneously ignore this Biblical, most basic tenet of humanity.

b) Allowing Republican political partisanship to trump U.S. citizenship is a most fundamental betrayal. Such traitors shouldn't be trusted with matches or car keys, let alone the solar system's political ultra-power, U.S. government.

* - Q:
What political philosopher or thinker do you most identify with, and why?
- Bush:
"Uh Christ, because he changed my heart."
- Q:
"I think the viewer would like to know more on how he's changed your heart."
- Bush:
"Well, if they don't know it's going to be hard to explain.
Uhm, when you turn your heart and your life over to Christ, when you accept Christ as a savior, it changes your heart. It changes your life; and that's what happened to me."
