Countries with Business Links to Trump Aren’t Part of His Immigration Ban

A draft proposal of an executive order obtained by Bloomberg News, reportedly shows that Trump is poised to suspend all entry to the U.S. from seven Muslim-majority countries.

Notably missing from the blacklist, however, are several Muslim-majority countries where Trump has business dealings, according to Bloomberg.

The news organization has put together a map of the proposed suspensions, with the Muslim-majority countries where Trump has business interests—Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Azerbaijan—rendered in yellow.

While Muslim-majority countries such as Oman, Qatar, Kuwait, and others are not included on the list, the omission of Turkey and Egypt may be argued as being seen at odds with Trump's definition. Both Turkey and Egypt endured high-profile terror attacks in 2016. Saudi Arabia of course, is where the 9/11 bombers were from.

The President has positions in two companies that may be related to business in Egypt, and has previously praised the country's autocratic leader, Abdel Fattah al-Sisi. In Turkey, Trump has a licensing deal to use his name on two luxury towers in Istanbul.

As The Church Lady would say.... How conveeeeeeeeeeeinient.

What we are seeing here, are the beginnings of likely the most blatantly, shamelessly, FU-if-you-dont-like-it-because-my-brainwashed-sheep-followers-dont-care-what-I-do, corrupt Presidential administration in the entire history of the US.

Re: the bolded. Neither do the nations that are part of the ban.

I can't believe what a loose cannon embarrassment Trump has been in just one week.

Yeah....lmao, we wouldn't want Trump to get rich because he became president like Obama did, now would we.....

It's almost as if Trump cares MORE about his personal business interests than he does the welfare of the people of this nation.

Do you move his balls off your chin long enough to shave, or does he enjoy the tickle of your whiskers?

Trump is in violation of the Foreign Emoluments Clause of the US Constitution.

The Repukes still won't impeach him for that, though.

They're probably waiting to see if the FBI digs up any evidence that he colluded with Putin and the Russians before they go that far and even then, they'll be gauging public outcry.

If not enough conservative voters give a shit, they still won't do anything.

He'd have to really buck the GOP agenda for them to resort to impeachment.

congress hasn't given him the authority to ban these countries. He can only ban countries he has prior support to do so. OP shattered.

Oh, so suddenly his executive order signing pen is out of ink, eh?

GMAFB. :palm:

These are not countries that trump just pulled out of his ass, they are a call back to the visa waiver program under obama. It was obama that flagged these countries, and that anyone that was otherwise eligible to visit the usa via the visa waiver program was flagged if they visited the countries we are now talking about. If I am not mistaken trumps executive order doesn't even refer to these countries by name but refers actually back to obama's legislation which brought these countries up.

So while you morons are going "hurrr durrrrrr business interests" it was actually obama that created this list of countries, not trump.

https://www.cbp.gov/travel/internat...ement-and-terrorist-travel-prevention-act-faq

on December 18, 2015, the President signed into law the Consolidated Appropriations Act 2016, which includes the Visa Waiver Program Improvement and Terrorist Travel Prevention Act of 2015 (the Act). The Act, among other things, establishes new eligibility requirements for travel under the VWP. These new eligibility requirements do not bar travel to the United States. Instead, a traveler who does not meet the requirements must obtain a visa for travel to the United States, which generally includes an in-person interview at a U.S. Embassy or Consulate.

Under the Act, travelers in the following categories are no longer eligible to travel or be admitted to the United States under the VWP:

  • Nationals of VWP countries who have been present in Iraq, Syria, or countries listed under specified designation lists (currently including Iran and Sudan) at any time on or after March 1, 2011 (with limited government/military exceptions)
  • Nationals of VWP countries who have been present in Iraq, Syria, Iran, Sudan, at any time on or after March 1, 2011 (with limited government/military exceptions).

This was a law passed by congress and signed by obama which references these countries that are now part of the "muslim ban." Donald Trumps's executive order referred specifically to this law. So it's not "convenient" or about business interests like you retarded liberals are saying in this thread. It references an already established law signed by obama that flags these countries and makes them ineligible for the visa waiver program. Nobody cared back then though when obama said any travel to these countries would disqualify someone from said program.

Given that trump references this already existing law, it's going to make it much tougher to challenge, which was prob his goal. Regardless, I hope it is now clear that he didn't personally select these countries, he didn't draft the list, it was the obama administration that came up with it and that's what he references in his EO.

Politics expert grind will keep you guys straight.

So in other words, Shlump needlessly created and signed an executive order that was already a law, just to make it look like he was doing something about Muslims.

Great.

And BTW, if Shlump is so worried about keeping terrorists out of the US, why didn't he include those other four countries which are known to be home to terrorists and terrorist activity?

There is no law that says he can only restrict people from the same countries that the Obama law restricts. He said he wants to make it harder for terrorists to enter the US, so why not include ALL the known terrorist countries, including the ones where he does business, instead of giving them a pass?

No, he took a provision of a law that was not being enforced, and ordered enforcement. That's one way executive orders are supposed to work.
