Trump's Inauguration

How desperate is Trump to get ANYONE to come to his little party?

Just Plain Politics is offering FREE TICKETS to the inauguration in it's advertising banner at the top of the page.

:rofl2:

"his little party?" ZG

Not sure which "party" you're referring to.

If it's the GOP, it's 10's of millions.
Perhaps you're just more social than I am, but I'd consider that non-little.

If you mean the inauguration, it may be the most consequential U.S. presidential inauguration in history. President Elect Trump says he wants to increase the size of the U.S. military nuclear arsenal.

Why the %$#@ would he want to do that?!

"Just Plain Politics is offering FREE TICKETS to the inauguration in it's advertising banner at the top of the page."

It's open to the public, and to be conducted on public property.
Why would tickets be required at all.

I'll watch it from home.

One of the things I'll be watching for:

the presidential oath of office is designated in Art.2 Sect.1-7 and does NOT end with the phrase "so help me god".

BUT !!

Every U.S. presidential inauguration I've seen since 1954 has been gratuitously concluded that way, including the botched inauguration administered to Obama in 2009.

I'll be interested to see if heathen Trump foregoes that theocratic flourish. And if he does, my estimation of him as an elected official will skyrocket gynormously.

I do think not he will forego it, he is too beholding to the evangelicals, plus he is using his family Bible. He believes he is a godly man, but one that does not require forgiveness, because he does nothing wrong.

" he does nothing wrong. " QS

Oh.
Just like all the other politicians then.

Got it.

QS,
I may simply be flat outright wrong on it.

But Donald Trump has never stricken me as a man of subtlety.

I don't mean to insult the man with this observation.
But I simply don't think it's the kind of detail Trump contemplates. In fact, Trump doesn't strike me as particularly contemplative at all.

We'll see.
I won't hazard a guess.

BUT !!

If he doesn't say it; I'll be exceedingly interested to see if it was by inadvertent omission; or in defiance.

It is a Chinese aphorism, a curse that heralds from ancient times: "May you live in interesting times."

I gather things are going to get substantially more "interesting" on Friday, starting around noon.

Trump became a billionaire and POTUS.

He doesn't contemplate much at all. Very astute observation.

You guys need to make up your minds....first it was no one will go....then a million Democrats were going.....now it's back to nobody....

He may be the most pensive guy in the cosmos.

But I suspect he's more distracted by avarice than the theological details of his oath of office.

As far as Trump being a $Billionaire, I'm not certain of that.

Trump has actually had a gambling casino go bankrupt. How good a businessman could he be?

He may have assets in the $billions.
What are his $liabilities?

And what is Trump's $net wealth once all the $additions & $subtractions are complete?

You doubted he contemplated much of anything. I would imagine he contemplated huge business deals, and he might have thought about becoming President. What do you say?

I wonder if the passage mentioning "two Corinthians" is bookmarked.

I think the protestors should go armed. make it a double impact statement. a protest against trump and a protest against gun control, now that they are faced with an all powerful republican government.

I've made no comment one way or the other regarding the size of his inauguration.

I only commented that free tickets to the inauguration are being handed out, just click the banner at the top of the page.

I don't think that they'll have any problem with folks not showing up. You, on the other hand, will undoubtedly continue to have a problem with women showing up to a date.

My posted comment was:
"Trump doesn't strike me as particularly contemplative at all." s

I didn't call him brain-dead.
But I've heard Trump reverse himself in a single paragraph.

I can imagine Trump might plan strategy for making business deals, etc.
His campaign design was pretty good.

"Make America Great Again"

It's a useful slogan.
a) It's perfectly meaningless.

b) It appeals to a broad segment of the brain-dead electorate.

"I would imagine he contemplated huge business deals, and he might have thought about becoming President. What do you say?"

There are different kinds of thought.

contemplate (kòn´tem-plât´) verb
contemplated, contemplating, contemplates verb, transitive

To consider carefully and at length

verb, intransitive
To ponder; meditate.

[Latin contemplârì, contemplât- : com-, intensive pref.. See com- + templum, space for observing auguries.]
- con´templa´tor noun

Why would Trump declare himself better informed about how to defeat ISIL than our U.S. military commanders & experts?
And why does he add the gratuitous rhetorical flourish "believe me" so often? So when he doesn't add it, we should NOT believe him?

I share Romney's skepticism on Trump, even if for elevated reasons.

"Donald Trump is a phony, a fraud. His promises are as worthless as a degree from Trump University. ... playing the members of the American public for suckers. He gets a free ride to the White House. And all we get is a lousy hat." Mitt Romney

Where did you read that? He wants to reduce weapons not increase them!

It's widely reported that Trump wants to increase the U.S. military (easier said than done), and fiddle with a 3 decade long nuclear weapons upgrade.
Some reports I've read indicate we have nuclear ICBMs whose update interface are 8" floppy discs, no longer in use due to exceedingly limited capacity and ridiculous bulk.

But that upgrade is already underway.
President Trump says he'll expand our nuclear weapons arsenal.

And part of the problem with that is, if he does, it'll mean either escalating our already out of control U.S. federal deficit and debt: http://www.brillig.com/debt_clock/

or cutting into other more useful domestic spending priorities:

However, on your perhaps unintended broader point, I agree.
The fabulous thing about discussing Donald Trump's position on a topic is; you're covered either way, as he so often takes both sides.

I definitely heard him say he'd increase our nuclear weapons arsenal.
But I acknowledge you may have heard him say the opposite.

"Let's be honest the only thing that our liberal friends care about is that Hillary lost." App poster.

Bs. If little Marco was elected there would be none of this uproar. You have elected the lowest scum ever to be elected to potus, and only with help of the Kremlin.

Trump is no reflective thinker. His word dumps are priceless.
