Obama sends 3,500 U.S. troops to Poland in rebuff to Putin and Trump

The deployment, intended to counter what Nato portrays as Russian aggression in eastern Europe, will see US troops permanently stationed along Russia’s western border for the first time.
the last Obama fuck up of his presidency.
It's going to take awhile for Trump to undo the damage of Obama's Cold War

I think it's a set-up for Trump to pull them out after he takes over. To support the vapid Trump puppet narrative.

It may be simple political vindication on Obama's part [hes every bit as thin skinned as Trump, he's just passive/aggressive with it].

Or, it may be a Deep State maneuver, if one is inclined to conspiracy theories. There's lots of speculation that it's the latter, given the intelligence community's role in leaking the garbage dossier on Trump. As if Trump is stupid enough to hire hookers while staying in Moscow's Ritz Carlton lol.

Truly, if anyone thinks Trump is that stupid, THEY are stupid or maybe just willing to believe ANYTHING that damages Trump.

Thankfully, Putin is surely aware that the troop movements are politically driven so I doubt anything will come of it. But it's also risky anytime you amass troops on another country's border.

See: Israel's Six Day War.

It’s an odd move for Obama, who, according to The Daily Caller, has not enjoyed a positive reputation in the region since abandoning plans in 2009 for a missile base defense shield in Poland and the Czech Republic that the Poles felt left them open to Russian aggression.
Then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton famously presented Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov with a “reset” button. “They have not really forgotten that,” Polish Secretary of State Anna Maria Anders told The Daily Caller News Foundation in a June interview. In 2014, The Russian Federation annexed Crimea and began backing separatists fighters in Eastern Ukraine.

But with word that President-elect Donald Trump may be strengthening ties with Russia, some believe Trump’s generally pro-Russia views might have contributed to Obama’s decision to deploy troops to the region. :palm:

It's actually kind of funny lol.

In 2009 Obama wanted to get along with the Russians so bad he unilaterally lifted Polands defense shield. At the time I was like, WTF? But guess what? Apart from giving away the store to *appease* Putin, nothing much happened. Russia didn't send tanks into Poland, another world war in Europe didn't ensue or etc badness and misery.

But what did happen was that Putin was emboldened by it. The rest is recent history. I guarantee you, Trump won't handle Putin that way.

At any rate, 8 years later Russia is back to Big Bad Bear status lol.

Something is up with that.

Start with Obama misunderstanding/dismissing that Russia is a world power, and needs to be treated as such.
Obama called it a "regional power"
Some regional power!! They became dominate with the Shi'a state in the mideast, and poached off a few Sunni states.

The flexed their muscle Syria, and turned it from a refueling station in Tartus -to a full scale client state with them in charge,a nd military buildups.

They simply marched ( Little Green Men) into Crimea -and started a competition to the EU with it's Eurasian Trade group.

Obama pushed more "reset" without offering any new perspective.

I sincerely hope Trump can cut thru all the bullshit
and achieve some type of normalization so we don't have to throw yer more men/material into an already stalemated Europe.

But it takes recognition that Putin has legitamate concerns, not just what we want him to play
