Affordable Care Act

The whole system is just hideously complex and opaque, how anybody can say this is actually better than government run is beyond me! The bureaucracy in the US system is labyrinthine in its complexity. Small wonder that costs are so opaque and unaccountable.

Can somebody tell me why Medicare is prohibited by Federal law from bargaining on drug prices? The present situation is just crazy, basically take it or leave it. Who created such a system?

You can thank Dubya personally for that clusterfuck.

No worries. Congress has a blank check in consideration of Obamy Care....why? One can't break something that's already busted to hell and back. It was designed to fail with the assumption that Hillary would be a 3rd Obama term though proxy.....when Obamy Care collapsed on its own weight....then comes Big Brother to the rescue with a Single Payer system and the tax payers would be shit on again and universal health care would be rooted into the system like crab grass and Social Security etc., and all but impossible to remove.

To bad....as Mr. Trump demonstrated....you don't always get what you want.

The rationale is GREED....pure and simple. Indirectly, it's also control of the population.
I can understand the need for pharma companies to recoup their R&D costs and make a profit. But that is supposedly why they are given a patent lifespan of 20 years before generic formulations are allowed. I can also understand their concern that obtaining FDA approval can take up to a decade. Maybe the patent life cycle should be extended to 25 years instead? I truly believe that countries like India and Cuba will play a big role in future, Cuba especially has a number of world beating drugs that could be used in the US today, if the FDA allowed them.

"CIMAvax is the product of Cuba's surging biotech industry, which was born from the ashes of the Cuban revolution.

The Castro regime has poured its limited resources into health care and medical research.*The country now cheaply produces 70 per cent of its pharmaceuticals, according to research by John Kirk, professor of Latin American studies at Dalhousie University in Halifax.

Still, Cuba can't afford to offer lung cancer patients more than one round of chemotherapy and radiation treatment.*So CIMAvax is used for post-treatment maintenance.*Medical tourists from Canada, the U.S. and other Latin American countries also come to the country to purchase the vaccine."

Republicans are singing a chorus on ACA.

BUT !!

They are distinctly not in harmony on it.

Some, including the president elect lead us to believe ACA will be removed & promptly replaced.

Other Republicans seem willing to allow years to elapse before replacement healthcare is available.

I've wondered why that's such a prominent sentiment, and now realize why.

Replacing ACA with "something better" is easier said than done.

And "better" is not defined.

What would be perceived as "better" by one segment of the newly uninsured population [lower $monthly $premiums] might be perceived as worse by those that can't afford a resultant higher co-pay.

I Trump-care immediately follows Obamacare it would facilitate immediate comparison.

And I think the Republicans don't want that, and so I'm guessing we won't be seeing any significant replacement for Obamacare in the form of Trumpcare anytime soon.

Just my wild guess.
