Why is Trump lending Mexico Money for the wall?

SO we are building the wall that Mexico is going to pay for on Credit?

Why are we lending Mexico money to pay for the wall?

Why are we financing it? How much interest are we going to charge? What happens if they default?

how can they default? We either tax remittances, goods, or withold foreign aid till its paid :)

He is asking the Republican Congress for the money to do it.

the only people that insist the mexicans pay for it upfront with a blank check are those who never supported trump.

Everyone else read his website as to how to get mexico to pay for it :)

why? You think there is a huge mexican lobby keeping the foreign aid going?

I think the foreign aid is basically already earmarked for the next 10 years, the money is in escrow and is being sent to specific companies and organizations that have loans based on the guarantee of the United States of America, those loans are generally from American banks that will have lobbyists in Washington. The commitment is already been made and would likely subject the Government to lawsuits and the aid was given for specific concessions toward the United States that Mexico has already granted. Their is a great effort to ensure Mexico remain more a friend of the United States than to other anti-American interests in South America that would love to get Mexico on their side.

Trade with Mexico is essential to many sectors of American economic interests and monkeying with the tax code would harm us much more than it would Mexico in many ways. We need Mexico as much as they need us.

?!

No.
I don't believe in the Tooth Fairy either.

I think Trump's "I'm gunna build a wall" is a stupid idea from start to finish.

U.S. national security is our TOP PRIORITY!! I declare that as former U.S. military.

BUT !!

We're already secure.

Russia election hacking scandal to the contrary* notwithstanding there is no obvious imminent threat to U.S. sovereignty.

* There's question about whether Russian intervention affected the election outcome. Prevailing informed opinion seems to be that it did not.

The question is if Russia committed espionage in an attempt to affect the election outcome. The clear answer is YES.

none of what you brought up is a reason we cannot do it. You brought up why you think its a dumb idea which is fine. But nothing as to why it cannot be done. If mexico wants to sue becuase they feel they are entitled to aid then they can.

I agree with all of that EXCEPT your use of the definite article.

It is "a" question, not "the" question.

It's perfectly relevant to investigate actions taken by potentially hostile foreign powers that either may have posed a potential threat, or indicated the capacity either current or future to do so.

A more relevant question is whether Russia did anything that ACTUALLY DID affect the election outcome.
If we must use the definite article, that would seem to be the priority sentence to use it in.

Sure it is all reasons it wont/cant happen.
