Maybe a conservative can explain, the Repiblicans are going to "repeal" the ACA,

You're kidding, right? Advertising targets the dumbest among us. If the govt really wanted a healthier society, they'd have public service messages about the ills of consuming many of the things we see on the t.v daily.

Look at how people fought to let their kids eat shitty school lunches.

and that's the responsibility of our entire society........how?

but delay the enactment of that repeal until they have a replacement program?

Too funny, they've had six years, and in all that time, even during a Presidential election, they've never gotten beyond the rhetoric stage in an alternative to Obamacare, and now their going come up with a real consensus program?

Looks like another facade to appease the good ole boys back home, does any entity get played more than conservatives?
I've talked to several GOP politicos here in Ohio who are pretty far up the food chain. The ACA has given the GOP so much political mileage that they want to use it again in 2020. LOL

I don't blame them as vast numbers of Americans are stupid enough to fall for it. LOL

Ironically, those who think they support the repeal of the ACA overwhelmingly like the line by line items in the law. So what they want in reality, is Obama's name gone from the law.

Funny how they offer Romneycare as an alternative, not knowing a thing about either one
They even like it when polled about the Affordable Care Act, when people were told it was Obamacare they were shocked!!

You explain the ACA first.

Arguably, the most ill conceived piece of legislation in the last 50 years.
Oh that's just utterly partisan non-sense. I'm reasonably sure that the GOP could give us a shitty health care plan that would resemble what we had in 1909 and you would tell us how wonderful it is.

The GOP isn't going to touch it cause they don't have a plan and just arbitrarily killing it and alienating around 50 million voters in the process is not wise politically.

If the GOP wants to make the Democratic party smile...go ahead...kill the ACA right now. Make their day.

You sure you want to go with this?

The whole thing doesn't have to be repealed, just the mandate.

They know they are never getting rid of the ACA, they will modify it, like HRC and Obama said we should do.... they might even change the name....but they won't eliminate it.

FOOLS

You're right, the GOP would rather not repeal the ACA and the six years you refer to is proof of that. They've used Obama , and Hillary, and the ACA to fund raise. But, now they're scrambling because Trump made it an issue and Trumps election shocked the GOP just as much as it did the Democrats so they are starting from scratch. We'll see what they come up with.
That's largely true. From what I hear the GOP intends to bang the drums loudly about what a great wonderful alternative plan they are going to have for health care reform...but they can't possibly put such a great plan together until 2021. LOL

Then they are cynically not create any plan and keep using the ACA as a political football.

The reality is that it's highly unlikely that the GOP will kill the ACA because there are to many reforms in the ACA that are needed and long over due and are really just a first step in reforming health care in our nation so that it doesn't eat up such a large percentage of our GDP while providing superior outcomes.

I think you're wrong. We're treating insurance policies as if they're a right and I don't think there were great reforms in the ACA. We could have fixed a lot of problems by putting certain people on Medicare/Medicaid. The ACA was unnecessary.

how did the ACA benefit the working class? I heard it certainly benefited the lower income classes, but the 'working' class suffered greatly with loss of coverage or reduced coverage in the millions.
You heard, do you have proof? I know that several millions have health insurance they wouldn't have without ACA because of pre existing conditions. Lower income people are the working class, too, just because they make less does not discount the fact that they work.

It's like what they have done with SS, Medicare, abortion, etc, it's all talk, keep those wedge issues alive!!!! It's been going on since my first vote and that was a long time ago. It cracks me up how people are so guillible.

ACA stinks -but ACA is better then nothing. supposedly it was a stepping stone to SP.
It was never advanced, and the flaws of not having universal coverage skewed the costs.
I realize this is simplistic -but it's a basic fact.
Repubs are clueless - repeal isn't changing the need for universal SP
