Republicans back off gutting of House ethics office after critical Trump tweet

Which would mean some congressmen fell on their swords for Trump. They will have to explain to their constituents back home why they tried to gut the ethics committee.

I haven't really followed this one but something doesn't add up with it. Were they actually trying to gut the committe or has the story gotten spun?

Ryan was supposedly against it anyway. He and Trump agreed on how stupid it was. This was discussed on CNN a little earlier. Ryan couldn't rein them in last night but the critters started seeing light this morning and had to scramble after they saw the Tweetmaster General's flashlight.

Oh, get lost!!!

Their redneck constituents don't give a crap about their attempts to gut an ethics committee.

If anything, they increased their popularity with the dumbasses back home for trying kill yet another "big gub'mint boondoggle". They knew they wouldn't lose either way.

Whether they attempted to kill the ethics committee or caved and went along with "Donald the Savior" by reversing their decision, their constituents would wag their tails like happy little puppy dogs.
