Maybe a conservative can explain, the Repiblicans are going to "repeal" the ACA,

From the beginning:

Cost sharing is an essential part of any insurance. They do it with auto insurance too. As such, nobody would be covered unless healthier people bought insurance. That's why a public option would have been the best plan instead of ACA.
It might have killed the private ins. industry, so Obama chose other avenues.

If you are going to force insurers to take people with pre existing conditions, you have to guarantee them remuneration for expected losses for the first few years. In theory, after about 5 years, losses should shrink as a healthier nation incurs fewer illnesses. That's why ACA added numerous preventive procedures without any extra OOP.

The taxpayer will ultimately pay for these losses as more and more uninsured become destitute under the weight of medical bills.

There is no easy solution. ACA was meant to be a foundation. Imagine what could have been, if Republicans actually worked to craft a better plan with Democrats?

the plan itself was the issue, creating insurance for those that wouldn't lift a finger to have it

Actually, we do indeed agree. We push soda on everyone, when in fact, soda should be illegal. We put corn syrup in everything, in order to keep the Midwest growing too much corn.

We push sugar infused breakfast foods, chemical laced fake food, and any number of other poisonous fake meals on unsuspecting fools....all in the name of profits.

Progress has made it unnecessary to think, or even move our bodies anymore. All in the name of profits.

Americans are bombarded daily with a nonstop stream of advertisements for things that aren't good for them, all in the name of profits.

Did Wall Street cause the housing bubble or did ignorant greedy homeowners cause the housing bubble?

Anyone can still pay for, and get, medical insurance. The only people who will lose it are those who are getting it for free. Hopefully drug tests will be imposed on anyone getting government services of any kind.

Members of Congress receive a paycheck from the Government.

Will we start the drug testing with them?

Yes, even though they work for it. Then on to everyone who receives government entitlements of any kind.

Great, we can start with those receiving the LARGEST government entitlements first.

Like CEO's of major corporations.

If we're going to test the single mom who receives $1,500.00 a month, then we can also test the CEO and Board of Directors of any major corporation that receives tax breaks from the Government.

Fine with me.

Fine with me.

Oh, please. Think about it.

We're not going to be analyzing the blood of every retiree, government employee, etc.

This whole direction is a tool used to assault those we give our full-throated hate: poor people.

Congress can barely tolerate the pathetically weak panels that monitor corruption and ethics violation. The idea that they would agree to take a blood test is ridiculous.

Trump paid zero taxes from the fabulous forgiveness we give him, and IS an employee our ours. Yet, he won't consent to the accepted measures of openness and divestment that past presidents have carried out. I can just see you asking him for a blood draw!!

Do you think government entitlements are the same as retirement accounts and SS accounts? Because they're not.

If I wasn't retired and fabulously wealthy I would look into opening a drug testing business.

Do you think it would be practical to ban all unhealthy foods? Prohibition created gang violence and wealthy criminals. And the current war on drugs is doing the exact same thing.

Progress? ... the ruling elite, kings queens pharoahs emperors, etc. have always been able to be lazy. America's free enterprise system has allowed more and more of us to live even better than the kings and pharoahs of old
I'm not calling for any bans...just pointing out why we're such an unhealthy nation. I don't consume any of the poisons I've previously listed, and I'm in excellent health/shape....and I'm old as dirt.

I guess you'd have to define 'better'. We have machines that tell employees how much change to give the customer. It's quicker, and cuts down on losses. Do you think that makes our society 'better', with adults who cannot do 3rd grade math?

I think you missed the point.

We think of testing as something to do against the poor, because those are who we hate.

I pointed out we aren't going to test those who get large sums of money from our government.

And, yes, I'd bet you would love to be part of the large new government bureaucracy designed to manage the punishment of poor people.

is a tax break via congressional law actually considered an entitlement? or is that just what YOU want to classify it as so you can push your own agenda?
