It seems to me that what he's saying here is if Trump doesn't toe the establishment GOP line then nothing gets done. I think this will backfire on them if they really try it.

There's a down side to it, but I get why he does it.

It's hard for the media to take 140 characters and construct a [false or misleading] narrative out of it. If Trump were to give a speech it's too easy to selectively quote and edit it.

So I'll be very surprised if he gives it up.

Is TV news really that different than Twitter? It's not like people on MSM talking head shows have in-depth discussions with well thought out opinions, they all talk in 5 to 10 second long sound bytes so they can be quoted in news reports. Newspapers are generally written at a sixth grade level. Twitter is just like anything else, it is what you make of it.

It's amazing that you're trying to portray it as some sophisticated way to circumvent the media and talk directly to the American people.

All twitter is for Trump is therapy to deal with his overwhelming level of insecurity. It's a way he can lash out at whoever or whatever he feels threatened by on any given day.

He's not communicating anything beyond that. This isn't a means to inform Americans about anything.

Newt's corncern isn't that Dumpster will toe any establishment line, it's that he and his team buckles to the establishment pressure and then doesn't get the swamp drained.

What's called 'news' these days are sound bites. Which is bad enough, but it's too easy for the establishment media to pick and choose what becomes the daily sound bite, which they mindlessly parrot back and forth between one another.

Trump decides his own sound bite content, via Twitter. Even if you think he's stupid and just stumbled on it [hint to the Trump haters: even if Trump stumbled on it, he's easily smart enough to recognize when it's working] there's no better way of circumventing the media.

I'm still not fond of Twitter - I'd rather see written press releases, or his press sec. replying..
But hey -lots of world leaders use more Tweets now.
