Yes there was but that is the downside of first past the post. However arguably they gained a far greater victory in securing our exit from the EU.

One of the conditions for the Liberal Democrats entering into coalition with the Tories in 2010 was to have a referendum on AV voting, if was soundly defeated though.

that 'silly system' has been in effect for over 200 years and was well known to all candidates. she had a crappy campaign that failed to garner votes in areas she needed. that's not being cheated, that's just being arrogant and ignorant.
