It's irrelevant how many parts, in the context of my argument. My Fiat motor has already run more miles than Jays will, and I'm sure by a yuugghhh factor.

It's easy to go off line when you hear people speaking absurdities about something they have little to no experience with. I've been dealing with EPA on a professional basis for close to 30 years and just about any of my colleagues, regardless of if they are left, right or center politically, would tell you much the same as I am.

Look to Chicago. The Chicago river has caught fire so many times it used to be a regular source of entertainment before the predecessor of the Clean Water Act was enacted in the 1940's. The Cuyahoga only caught fire twice. LOL

not every manufactured product needs prototyping (modeling) -but every manufactured product does need production prototyping (molds, etc.).
FYI patents are only issued in individual names -but I get your point.
 
Come to think of it, the latest innovation that has energized the US economy has occurred in spite of government trying to discourage it: fracking.

Shale oil isn't even cost competive and relies on a high barrel price, halfwit.

Any new idea has to be modeled to prove it works. It doesn't exist otherwise; it is only theory. In science this is known as modeling, developing a prototype is similar but is manufacturing vernacular.

The point I am trying to make though is that while computers are definitely a great tool for inventors, backyarders still have the great disadvantage of not having the resources to physically model an idea

We are on the cusp of this idea timewise though. Even now work is progressing on 3-d printing with metal.
Very soon what you describe will be much more commonplace.
