What are they thinking with the Ellison pick as DNC chairman?

Doubling down on diversity? Still doesn't make sense because of his association with Calypso Louie and the Nation of Islam. Why risk the Jewish bloc on a DNC chair with a history of antisemitism?

Or does Ellison bring something to the table [apart from the fact he's Muslim] that I'm missing?

Besides being an intelligent legislator who has authored legislation important to democratic ideals and agenda ..he's also served on the House Judiciary Committee, House Committee on Foreign Affairs, House Financial Services Committee, and the House Democratic Steering & Policy Committee. He was also elected Co-Chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, critical to democratic future direction.

Why would anyone expect you to understand the importance of experience?

Additionally, he's a slap in the face to ignorant Muslim hate. He exemplifies all the characteristics of democratic ideals and leadership .. including diversity.

Ellison, by his actions, could help to bridge the Islamic / Jewish divide. He understands that responsibility .. even if you don't.

this is from ellison. How is this different from trump saying we can be friends with other countries but they have to pay their share as well? :)

They lost 3 states by 107,000 votes and won the popular by 2.6 million. With demographics changing rapidly in their favor.

Shouldn't Republicans be worried about how they're going to retain those 107,000 votes?

actually numbers show that for the past couple of elections ohio michigan and pennslyvania have been trending republican.

Mittens gained 300k in them over mccain i believe and trump gained around 500k over mr.kneeler.

Yes. And they should be worried about gaining new voters in the people of color class. Using Reagan tactics like lifting America up for all races, is a great way to go about it. A successful Trump Presidency will force many to abandon the racist politics of divide and conquer coming from the left.

If something fails it doesn't matter that the people rejected it because the elitist attitude trumps all.

Look at Pelosi saying she doesn't think people want a different direction despite all polls to the contrary as well as failure in the voting booth.
Of course there is also the matter of looking after the needs of their owners, that comes first.

Also at the state level the GOP has a super majority in these states. The democrats have lost 900 state house seats since the election of Berry O. But they keep burying their heads in the sand and refusing to listen to the working class.
