You really are primitive over there, IUDs are available to all women for free on the NHS. It is just effing crazy that doctors charge $900 or more for a procedure that take less than 15 minutes.

well you Brits have this primitive notion that you should not be free to charge what the market will bear for human life.

Besides think of the horror and immorality all the dancing that affordable birth control would encourage.

Which goes some ways to explain why your healthcare costs are three times as much as ours per patient.

I can put an IUD in and I'm not a doctor and gyne isn't my specialty lol.

What total horseshit scaremongering. Birth control pills can be had for as little as $7.00 month at Wall Mart.

It doesn't even make good economic sense as an IUD lasts for around 10 years. It's a no brainer.

You would think..

So poor women will have more kids & the ones denying it will complain about that......:palm:

Thailand is a poor country compared to the USA but IUDs are fitted routinely in hospitals, same story in Vietnam. How can they do that but a rich country like the US can't?

Anyone with minimal training can put an IUD in. I'll venture to say docs don't do it there.

They are usually fitted in clinics by nurses, I was just reading that less than 2% of women in the US use IUDs. That is just crazy to my mind, why would you want to use the pill all the time, with all the attendant problems, it just doesn't make sense to me.

I got one word, I had my three kids and then...

VASECTOMY!

Best thing I ever did...

Well some women have a reaction to the copper in some of them. There's no perfect answer.
