They are not acting. Honestly, I wonder if you and 3d are not out of touch with the right. They might be different in your area, but the rightwingers in the south have never cared about free markets. They only complain about "socialism" because they think it's benefits are skewed towards minorities. It does not seem the rust belt conservatives and union thugs are any different.

Cawacko is originally from Ohio, and has lived in CA since his college days. I am a native Seattleite. OH, CA, and WA are all traditionally conservative Republican states. WA and CA flipped in the 80s, while OH remains marginally conservative and Republican.

The south was the birthplace of the Democratic Party. It initially embraced the liberalism of Jefferson against the conservatism of the Federalists, but quickly fell to populist movements from Jackson through Bryan. Due to losing the Civil War, it was so wedded to the Democratic Party, that it embraced the New Left starting with Wilson. The south has never been conservative, and has never belonged in the Republican camp. That was the absurdity of the Southern Strategy.

Anyway, it's the reason why Cawacko and I are a different crowd.

actually it would be wisest if the US cut corporate taxes to zero and taxed dividends and interest instead......then we wouldn't be losing the jobs overseas in the first place......

I'm a liberal now because I believe in free markets? Do you have any core set of beliefs or are you on the Desh train where whatever your party does is right and it doesn't matter if it contradicts itself?

no dumbfuck......you're a liberal because you think the money that people pay in taxes somehow BELONGS to the government......liberals love to object to tax cuts because it "costs" the government something.....

The same thing that is/was unproductive about Solyndra's solar panels, buggy whips, $500 hammers or the fictional tomacco plant. Producing something that no one wants at the price at which you are offering, selling it at a loss or needing subsidies to stay afloat makes it unproductive. Opportunity costs alone could easily make it less than optimal productivity.
