One of two things is true.

- Either the Trumpettes are so naïve they believe Trump's vague and glorious pledges: "Make America Great Again" - OR -

- they're so unethical that they know Trump is a liar; and they just don't care.

Which of those two explanations is supposed to be comforting?

You are an honest person, more honest than most who discuss politics, but you don't expect it from your leaders?

uh no? That would lead to disaster. All other countries would be able to read us from a mile away. I know Trump is a gamble but one im ok with since his rhetoric is correct and something id like to encourage more of. Voting Hillary would have sent the exact opposite message of what i wanted.

Besides its not hard to read trump. All things have a soul and they will not stray to far from that. Once you learn to read the soul things become clearer.

Neither, its shameful.

Explain Trumps soul to me?

Explain Trumps soul to me?

I'll take that one. Trump's soul is a nearly empty pit. He tries to fill it with a desperate need for attention and praise, but even the attention & praise of millions can't make the smallest dent. It is a vast cavity of insecurity, self-loathing and pettiness, and will sadly never be filled.

kk.

Trumps soul is an egomaniac - He believes that the empty space in mount rushmore is for him. He is running so that he can be remembered as the greatest president ever. Hence he will make decisions to that end. He also needs the people to acknowledge him of this so he will not do something terribly unpopular. Now he thinks he knows what is good for the country and will use his skills to make that happen. He will only stop if the people have a knee jerk reaction and say no. FYI by people right now i mean the base supporting him. This will expand as more people support him. So he may go of on tangents as some things dont work his fundamental goal is to be the best evar.

Take Romney for example. If gingrich tells him romney is a bad idea he will laugh. If reddit twitter etc raise a uniform scream of no he will stahp

Hillary is a noble. The peasants dont matter. It is her destiny to become president and the only thing that matters to her is the other members of the nobility approve of her. Once in office she could care less about the public until the next election. What she does in office matters less than the fact she gets to it.

Bernie is a d and d fighter. He wants what he wants and he believes it will be the best for everybody. By his analysis it is most likely true but he cannot comprehend that other countries may use guile to take advantege of this. He expects honesty in a world of lies.

Cruz is a crusader. He has a set of beliefs and it doesnt really matter whether they work or not. He will do it consequences be damned. He is convinced they will work even if noone else sees it.

Kasich is a middle manager. He has a set career path and it was his time to run. He didnt particularly want to or want to win but its expected of him so he will do it.

Yes and:
a penchant for petty superficiality.

That's part of the problem.
Some citizens run for U.S. president because they want to accomplish something.

Considering Trump's outsized ego, he may have run for president because he wanted to BE something.

A trophy wife and private helicopter aren't enough. Extreme cupidity is a curse.

Important note:
It's not absolutely impossible that Trump could rise above himself, and actually do well for the United States of America, the People of the United States, and the Peoples of the world.

I wouldn't bet the farm on it! Trump has been out for himself at the high cost of countless others his entire adult life. Trump reportedly has a record of refusing to pay $owed / earned, and battling in court rather than making good on his business agreements.

Reportedly, that's his pattern.

So what do you think he's going to do as president? Jam a finger in the eye of his $rich chums and champion the welfare of the common man?

Within Germany, from Hitler's point of view, he was wildly popular and loved beyond all measure. What you described as Trumps motivation concerns me because I also believe Trump has a great ability for denial of facts that don't support his desire. So even if he forces people to feign love, he will believe it is genuine. Trump is less interested in Making America Greater than he is in creating the appearance that America/the world loves him beyond all rational measure.

You may not like it but before ww2 went tits up Hitler was most likely beloved in Germany.

But yeah Trump is most interested in being declared the best ever. Hitler acheived the love and everything because well whatever he did worked. People were no longer buying food by the barrel of money etc. It sucks that we have to admit it but if you value honesty and look at it from someone living in germany at the time hitler would probably have been a good thing. Unless your a jew :P

Now Trump. Trump can't insulate himself from reality. We have unlimitted access to him thru twitter facebook etc. Remember if he fails he will be a one term president and he will do everything possible to prevent that.

I prefer you posting like this.

I hate the whole idea of Trump. Every President has an ego and acts according to it, but I don't think anyone has approached him in terms of doing things ENTIRELY for ego, as you describe. And I agree that this is what he's about, and what COULD make him a successful President.

But decisions made for ego gain aren't usually sound. I don't believe Trump cares about people, beyond how their satisfaction can get him re-elected and praised. He certainly won't look out for everyone, and he'll always favor short-term gain over long-term solutions.

That is the problem, he will do ANYTHING possible to prevent being a one term President, ANYTHING!

Sometimes it's the president's job to do unpopular things for the good of the Country. Bush, Sr. did it with his Iraq war, he saved thousands of American lives, and it cost him his second term.

short term gain for longterm solutions. So we routinely change parties in power every 8 years. Our political class has already been trained to think that away.

As opposed to china who has a tradition of being around for a couple of millenia and whose politicians know the same party is going to be running things for the foreseeable future. So they can engage in longeterm stuff like rebuilding the silk road.

You short term vs longterm ship has already sailed.

lol. Ok were on this already :P I guess trump wont go to war lololol

but newhoo. Trump is a good persuader. Just like this whole flag thing. If he really believes its necessary for his legacy as best ever he will convince us of it.

It may not be quite as dire as critics might suggest.

a) Trump LOVES the kerfuffle.
But I don't know that he's much of a detail man. More of a delegator I suspect.

b) If so, it'll be rather more the style of Trump's delegates than Trump himself. And so far; not all Trump's cabinet selections are horrible.

I don't think SOS Romney / Petraeus would be so bad. I like them both.

It's the Goldman Sachs angle I'm concerned about.

Nothing says irony like a Liberal hypocrite whining about "make America great" after voting for "hope and change" TWICE. Good lord Liberals; buy yourselves some mirrors! :rofl2:

I'll explain this post:

Yes, Hitler was very popular because he went down a path that would short term make him very popular, but middle term destroyed Germany for decades to come.
