Facist bullies company!

A "carrot" is a "usually tapering, elongate, fleshy orange root of this plant, eaten as a vegetable" *.

So I deduce the use of the word here is simile.

Such grammatical forms are intrinsically vague, apparently deliberately so in this case.

I thought "regulations" were the purview of congress. So by what dint of plausibility would the president elect "dangle" such "carrot"?

fyi for congress to modify such regulations would require cooperation and coordination of both houses of congress.
And while the LEADERS of both houses are Republican, our senate currently requires a "super-majority" that's 60%.

And while the GOP does control a simple majority, it lacks the super-majority that would be necessary for such "carrots".

AND!!

Majority Leader McConnell (R-KY) is the one that negotiated Senator Reid out of exercising "the nuclear option".
And it is precisely that "nuclear option" the GOP would have to exercise in the senate to overrule conservative Democrat opposition.

We both know that Trump and congressional Righties absolutely hate any sort of environmental regulation.

They obviously pan on rolling back regulations and allowing Carrier and other companies to pollute our waters in exchange for a bit of monetary profit.

The acquisition of money, after all, is what drives Republicans.

Yes. You hit on one of my tender spots with the RNC. Where I get pissed at the DNC is their insistence on injecting politics into good stewardship of Mother Earth.
I raise hell with Lamar Smith (My Congressman) often and in person.
Somewhere in between the RNC/DNC is the answer and it's not the Green Party (idiots).
Most of these young people do not remember the 50's and 60's, where fucking companies would drain battery acid into the lakes and rivers. I remember the Trinity River running through Fort Worth stinking to high heaven for all the pollution.

Zap, with the old school leftist playbook. Repubkicans want no regulations, want to kill Grandma's S.S. etc. just brainless

And good thing liberals don't like money. Of course living in liberal Silicon Valley one would never know that but hey, Zap buys it

Now you got it? The EPA will be neutered.....why? It has cost millions of jobs void of any kind of congressional oversight. FYI: The states, each one with their own constitutions and common laws...already possess their state versions of the EPA....the federal EPA is nothing but a superfluous mirror with one mission....usurp the states authority to control their own business and environment concerns for political reasons. Politics has no place in protecting the environment. Look for heads to roll. Everyone must face the realities of life.....people are more important than microscopic examples of wildlife. No longer will permits be denied because the natural habitat of some gnat might be endangered. No longer will "water" be denied to growers because of some endangered MINNOW.

The false premise? You are faking concern over the environment when the policies of your guild make it necessary for THE PEOPLE (for national security concerns) to go 3rd world totalitarian nations to purchase this nations energy requirements....nations that pollute the earth at an exponential greater rate then the US working full blast in producing clean coal, natural gas and shale byproducts....not to mention having the capacity to REFINE gas at a much cheaper and cleaner method than those 3rd world polluters.

Why the "fear mongering".....one word POLITICS, with the power that comes with it.

I ask the question because I am a republican. Liberals see headlines politicians give them and ask no questions. A republican will ask about the details of the deal and what are the future (unintended) consequences of the deal. I see nothing wrong with asking for the specifics of the deal

That doesn't change what I said. You seem to assume the worst from your President Elect, instead of taking his statements at face value.

Because he's a politician. I don't trust him regardless of the letter next to his name.

obviously not for those that moved down there while Obama was president.......it will be once Trump is inaugurated and Congress passes new laws......

That's clearly not going to happen with this congress. Too many free traders. So I don't think that was the impetus for their decision

Back in 89 a friend and I took a train to L.A., and I remember looking out the window while we were still over a hundred miles from L.A. and noting the sky had turned yellow.

Being a small town boy from Colorado, I naively asked what that cloud was and was told it was SMOG from L.A.!

We were still over TWO HOURS from L.A., but we could already see its pollution.

Thanks to environmental regulations fought for by reasonable folk from BOTH sides of the aisle, that cloud and similar clouds hovering over metroplexes all around this country have grown noticeably smaller over the past 30 years.

As usual, the truth is met by derision and petty personal attacks.

You can't refute my point so you attack me instead.

Thanks for validating my point!

does "trust but verify" ( Reagan on Gorbachev) work for you?
It's how I'm doing it..I take Trump at his word until he screws up/back peddles.

Show me some sane curtailing of executive over-reach in regs ( without setting rivers on fire) coupled with GDP jobs and I'll believe.
Otherwise it's just more campaign pablum

"A great many of the governments overreaching regulations can be suspended with a simple POTUS signature." R #20
I know.
I attended high school too.
I didn't say the exec. is powerless.
My observation is the U.S. president's executive power is not unlimited.
And know it or not, believe it or not, like it or not, admit it or not; there's been some tension about this during the Obama administration, whether he's exceeded his authority in this regard.

I understand omniscients like you already know what President Trump will do; all details of every action, for 4 years in the future.
But you see, I'm merely mortal. So I can't address the specifics until they become known, and he hasn't even been inaugurated yet.
"Bull shit." R #20

I invite you, I encourage you to quote one SPECIFIC assertion I've posted which you object to; and refute it.
But the best you have done is your vulgar reference to bovine scatology.
Candidly, I prefer a substantially more elevated style of discourse.

I hear you. Back in the day (yes Rune we had cars back then) I lived in Santa Clarita north of LA and drove to downtown LA everyday. Coming down the mountains or going up you descended or ascended through the smog cloud. I shit you not.

really.....you've had this all figured out since Trump got nominated, haven't you.........what's your track record for success again?.....I remember when "clearly" Trump had no chance of beating Hillary....

Ok, you let me know when Paul Ryan comes out in favor of tariffs. And you predicted Romney would beat Obama and Romney would win Michigan, neither of which happened so your prediction record isn't exactly a stellar one.

a) I invite you to post a link to any of YOUR posts that predicted Trump would be elected president, before Trump won his first State primary.

b) It's not clear to me your #37 undermines cawacko. That Trump would not win was widely recognized "political wisdom" and usually reliable poll * predictions predicted a Hillary victory up until the day before the election.
