Former surgeon to excise Obamacare

ObamaCare: Tom Price, the Republican congressman and former physician from Georgia, has been named by Donald Trump to head the Department of Health and Human Services. For those who harbored any doubts about Trump's commitment to repealing ObamaCare, you can now rest easy.

Price, a former orthopedic surgeon, is known as Congress' most astute critic of the Affordable Care Act, having practiced medicine himself and understanding fully its many flaws. He will be ready on Day One to find a way to replace the 2010 health care law, which was passed by Democrats without a single Republican vote.

After a long hiatus, common sense is returning to government.

Appointing a physician [instead of nameless bean counters] to oversee the dismantling of Obamacare...who could ever conceive of such a thing lol?

Another good pick by Trump.

I still think SP was the way to go-adding a PO. But it aint happening..get the costs down,and more flexibility of coverage

Why did the right have nothing but repeal, instead of better solutions at lower cost, then?
Because Harry Reid/Nancy Pelosi blocked everything that was offered as an alternative.
Republican proposals blocked by Harry Reid....................
1. They want to end the tax bias in favor of employer-sponsored health insurance to create full portability (either through a tax credit, deductibility, or another method);

2. They want to reform medical malpractice laws (likely through carrot incentives to the states);

3. They want to allow for insurance purchases across state lines;

4. They want to support state-level pre-existing condition pools;

5. They want to fully block grant Medicaid;

6. They want to shift Medicare to premium support;

7. They want to speed up the FDA device and drug approval process; and

8. They want to maximize the health savings account model, one of the few avenues proven to lower health care spending, making these high deductible + HSA plans more attractive where Obamacare hamstrung them.

The argument that "everything they proposed was blocked" is bogus, Obamacare, a market based approach, was itself a concession to the Republicans, whole concept was born in the Heritage Foundation and was pushed throughout the nineties by House Republocans

The 60 times or so the Republicans attempted to repeal the ACA never offered an alternative, the Party itself in 2012 + 2016 never offered an alternative program beyond rhetoric

And they are soon to find out it is not going to be easy nor done entirely

Don't you want to find out what they are planning to replace it with?

that is an incredible lie.....why do liberals think anyone will pay attention to it when they repeat it.......

Pure DNC talking points.

It seems pretty bloody stupid and incredibly bureaucratic to have separate Medicaid and Medicare systems, they should be merged!

Hardly, whole concept came out of the Heritage, if Obama did what he wanted we would have a single payer system today

Always interesting to see conservative avoid content by deflecting with cliches

if by "whole concept" you mean "its insurance"......yes.......not many similarities beyond that......the cliche is saying it came from the Heritage Foundation.......
