Despite being less than 1% of the American population Muslims have been responsible for:

*The worst Terrorist attack in American history, (9/11. Literally leveling skyscrapers.)
*The worst mass shooting in US history, (Orlando night club).
*The worst mass shooting on a military installation. (Ft. Hood).
*The worst mass shooting in California in the 21st century, (San Bernardino).

U.S. President Bush (younger) was careful to announce publicly that his GWOT was NOT a war on Islam.

It's about the most enlightened position I can cite as his.

The fact is:
reductio ad absurdum.
If we follow the extremism implied here to fore in this thread it might only multiply the carnage in the U.S. & beyond.

Even if you think most terrorists are Muslims, that doesn't mean most Muslims are terrorists. To the contrary. Most Muslims are NOT terrorists.

Anyone that thinks President Bush and I are out of line on this may wish to take note that candidate Trump proposed a religious test for U.S. immigration,
and that U.S. immigration of Muslims be suspended indefinitely, -until we can figure out what the heck is going on!-

Candidate Trump quickly backed off that position, and has distanced himself from it ever since. Why do you suppose that is?

President Elect Trump has been in close face to face consultation with both Governor Romney and General Petreus; both candidates for Secretary of State.
Each candidate has had more than enough time to persuade Trump back to that original religious test position Trump proposed during the election campaign.

Just why do you suppose neither has?

Journalist / professor Rosemary Armeo says:
a) Romney was the vanguard of the Republican opposition to Trump.

b) Armeo observes that since the Trump election victory, this rapprochement has had Romney (former vehement critic) speaking publicly, favorably of Trump.
Armeo is right in that it is a remarkable turn-around.

BUT !!

Armeo suggests it's likely Petreus has the appointment sewn up, & that the Romney thing is just an ego boost / reputation boost for Trump, substantially at Romney's expense.

But I appreciate your optimism. Self-criticism indicates thoughtful analysis; not something Trump is well known for. If Trump has avoided a specific course of action for the outcome of the risk to benefit ratio; I find that an extremely encouraging sign.
 
Considering Patreus' fuck-up regarding the disclosure of classified information, Patreus is the perfect appointment for Douchebag Donald to rub-in his victory over Crooked Hillary.
