No jackass. It should get federal funding but be free from political manipulation by conservatives. It should be like the federal reserve. The president should have the power to appoint the board of directors (9 directors, and each president gets to appoint one yearly), so that no president ever gets to decide the entire board. And the board of directors should decide its course. With no political intervention.

You wonder how much good science was missed on account of it.

The president/congress should only set NASA's agenda in the broadest terms and then allow it plenty of latitude to do its thing free from any political considerations.

Its unbelievable we haven't been back to the moon since the late 60's. Hubble was excellent though.

if a president gets to appoint one yearly wouldnt you have a year where 8/9 are appointed by one?

btw the fed is remarkably political. Notice when the democrat was in power they kept rates artificially low when trump won they immediatly said they would raise rates.
