It's a familiar, if unsubstantiated refrain.
a) It was not a unilateral treaty. There are signatories to it apart from the U.S. & Iran.
There's also:
- Britain,
- France,
- Germany,
- China, &
- Russia.
And you assert:
"Obama really screwed up here" #3
Hilarious!
Obama boinked up?
But Britain, France, Germany, China, & Russia just went along to the whore-house for company?
b) As true of much diplomacy, including nuclear diplomacy, it's an uncontrolled experiment. Even if it blows up (hasn't yet), who's to say it wouldn't have been worse without it?
c) Have you read the Israeli battle plan for addressing Iran's nuclear program?
MERCIFUL HEAVENS: it's damn near Armageddon!!
Iran's nuclear infrastructure was DELIBERATELY deep underground, to put it out of reach of even nuclear "bunker-buster" explosives.
Israel's battle plan was to strike Iran's underground nuclear site with a nuke; leaving a crater.
Then, drop another nuke into the crater, deepening the crater.
Then, drop another nuke into the crater, deepening the crater further.
Then, drop another nuke into the crater, deepening the crater further.
Then, drop another nuke into the crater, deepening the crater further.
Then, drop another nuke into the crater, deepening the crater further.
- wash, rinse, repeat -
The plan was to do that until they'd destroyed Iran's nuclear infrastructure.
BUT !!
There are problems. Among them:
Iran has anti-aircraft missiles that travel at mach 5. They'll take out any plane Israel can fly.
And ordnance experts said it would take at least 7 direct hits with nuclear weapons to dig a crater deep enough to accomplish that mission.
Compared to WHAT?!
I hardly think multiple bomb nuclear war in the Middle East is the preferred scenario here.
