We are blessed to have Desh's political insight on this board and her repeated insistence for eight years now that the Republican Party is dead. The numbers definitely bear that out.



The GOP’s Trump Card in the States

Republicans took the White House in a shocker, but the party has been on a roll at the state and local level throughout the Obama years.


When the dust clears, Republicans will hold at least 33 governors’ mansions, up from 22 when Obama took office. That’s the most GOP governorships in 95 years. Republicans will also boast control of as many as 33 state legislatures, up from just 14 in 2008. In more than half of all states, Republicans now own a “trifecta,” that is, control of the governorship and both legislatures. Democrats have a mere six trifectas.

So did Trump suddenly become a conservative in your eyes because he won?

The truth is neither party is what they once were and we have witnessed a historical shift in both parties coalition.

No Trump is not a conservative nor are all Republicans. Desh has said the Republican Party is dead. Well they hung on to Congress and are still dominating at the state level. Desh's argument about the party wasn't an ideological one
 
everything will be fine as long as the "conservatives" accept that the nationalists have a wing of the gop now.

You have one personality that won. What "nationalist" is going to follow Trump? Hint, there won't be one.

Or the Bush map which won two elections. You better worry about Trump making it through four years in office and doing a good job before thinking you have the future locked up
