Obama is now viewed more positively than Reagan was in 88

Pollster.com's Charles Franklin was a little ahead of the curve Sunday morning when he pointed out that President Obama's approval rating right now is among the highest Election-Day approval ratings in recent history.

Franklin tracked recent survey results by party to evaluate Obama's approval, finding that, at 52.1 percent on average, he's viewed more positively now than Ronald Reagan was at the end of his second term, but not as positively as was Bill Clinton at the end of his.

Probably because both candidates are horrible. Obama looks good compared to them.

Smart-ass phone
True, almost anybody does...:dunno: Kinda sad isn't it......

Vast majority of Americans voting against someone, very few for someone.:palm:

ACA is controversial.
I suspect it will either be improved (changed), or repealed.

But the Republican demigod Ronald Reagan had a standard for rating U.S. presidents:

"Are you better off ... ?"

Under the previous president, a Republican, we were substantially worse off at the end of his disastrous presidency than at the beginning.
- the worst terrorist attack on the U.S. homeland in history
- Hurricane Rita
- Hurricane Katrina
- the worst economic recession since the Great Depression
- losing ~800K jobs per month at the end of his administration

The Bush administration left us a smoldering crater.

Senator Obama was inaugurated president:

and then Bush / Cheney / Paulson got the %$#@ out of town!

Perhaps he's the better president.
“... Reince Priebus, the Republican National Chairman today said that 300K jobs ... aught to be expected every month ... and just a historical perspective:
- during the 8 years of President Bush (younger) there were 2.1 million net jobs created in the United States. Of the 2.1 million, 1.8 million of them were in the public sector ... that means there were 300,000 jobs in the private sector in 8 months, in 8 years rather, net ...
more jobs have been created in the United States in the last 4 years than in Europe, Japan, all the industrialized modern world combined. ...
70 years since WWII. 36 years of Republican presidents, 34 years of Democratic presidents. In those 70 years, there were 36.7 million jobs created under Republican presidents ... a little over half the time. In 34 years there were 63.7 million created by Democrats. That's 29 million more. You know, perhaps it's an accident once, or twice or what. But I mean at some point the Democrats ought to be comfort in the fact that they have been better the economy and job creation than have been the opposition.
...
It's 15 years since we've had 10 consecutive months of over 200,000 [job growth]. Just 15 years ago there was a fella from Arkansas ... there were more jobs created in Bill Clinton's 8 years than there were in Ronald Reagan's 8 years, and the 12 years of both Bush's combined. I mean 6 million more jobs created in those 8 years, ... policy does kick in, & is reflected in the results.” Mark Shields
Note:
It's a bit too early to know how history will view how successful the Obama administration has been.

BUT !!

Later today there's going to be a public opinion poll.
It in a sense will be a national referendum on the Obama administration.

If Trump wins, it may be interpreted as a rejection of Democrats (Obama / Clinton).
But why would the nation elect Hillary, if they hated Obama?

obama is a cool dude. I don't agree with him but I have said many times I don't have a personal issue with him. I do hate some of his blind followers though.

some good points...

Back in the day Reagan wasn't viewed a Demi god like he is revered by some today...

Maybe the GOP has moved away from some of those painful illusions?

Some voter / tax payer / citizens approve a public official. Some disapprove.

For whatever reason, Republicans worship Reagan. And it wouldn't surprise me if their reverence for him is part of what's distracting them from their duty today.
"Maybe the GOP has moved away from some of those painful illusions?"
Majority Leader McConnell (R-KY)? I see no evidence in that.

The "O" in GOP stands for "Old".
The "G" in GOP stands for "Grand".

It may be a self-inflicted curse. But it does certainly appear that the GOP's grandeur (if it ever existed) is in the past.
It's a new millennium.
What has the GOP done to keep up with the times?

Majority Leader McConnell?
Candidate Trump?

Merciful Heavens!

NO WONDER the Democrats keep winning!
