Alternate reality. President Obama’s patient show of respect for an elderly Trump supporter’s “freedom of speech” was held up as a national "disgrace" by the GOP candidate.

It was an all too rare moment of respect and graciousness across party line that many on the left held up as a prime example of what they will miss about President Obama. But to Donald Trump, “frankly, it was a disgrace.”

At his own rally in Pennsylvania Friday night, the Republican candidate utterly mischaracterized a moment that President Obama had with a pro-Trump protester in North Carolina earlier that afternoon. As the crowd of Hillary Clinton supporters began to boo the Trump supporter and chant “Hillary!” to silence him, Obama took pains to quiet down the crowd and “focus” on what’s important.

"First of all, we live in a country that respects free speech,” Obama said after a painful couple of minutes when it seemed he had lost control of the crowd. “Second of all, it looks like maybe he might have served in our military and we have to respect that. Third of all, he was elderly and we have to respect our elders. And fourth of all, don't boo, vote!"

But how did Donald Trump see it?

He began by accusing the media of refusing to turn the camera and show the protester on screen, something he said would never happen at one of his rallies because the press would want to highlight something “negative.”

"He was talking to the protester, screaming at him, really screaming at him,” Trump said of Obama. “By the way, if I spoke the way Obama spoke to that protester, they would say, 'He became unhinged!'”

“And he spent so much time screaming at this protester and frankly, it was a disgrace,” Trump concluded.

So in Trump’s mind, Obama calling on his own supporters to calm down and “respect” an elderly veteran who disagrees with them is a “disgrace.” But saying about one of the protesters at a rally of his earlier this year, “I’d like the punch him is the face,” is just business as usual.

He's going off script, again. Interesting, he canceled a Wisconsin event.

Yeah, I read that he went seriously off-script in a Florida rally today.

"Throughout the rally, Trump repeatedly ignored his teleprompter and went on off-script rants, espousing a number of baseless, debunked and bizarre claims. He said the Justice Department is trying to protect its "angel Hillary Clinton" by suppressing the FBI's investigation into the private server she used as secretary of State. He noted the progress he's made in closing Clinton's lead in recent polls, but added, "I really only acknowledge them if I'm winning."

Trump's not trying to win. He never wanted to be president.

Wow - BAC is back! Nice to see you.

I agree & disagree. I think it's correct that he never thought he'd get this far & never really intended to be President. But now that he IS this far, I think he wants to win badly, just for the sake of winning. He truly hates losing at anything, and no way does he want to lose to a woman.

The FBI's investigation was based on that hack book Clinton Cash. They might as well have used the National Enquirer as their source.

"Peter Schweizer, the author of "Clinton Cash" and an editor at large at the alt-right media outlet Breitbart — whose executive chairman, Stephen Bannon, took a leave of absence to be CEO of the Trump campaign — told NBC in April 2015 that he didn't have direct evidence proving that Hillary Clinton traded favors for money while she was at the State Department."

It still looks like Trump could be throwing the election, but he has improved at being less obvious about it. This week he was spouting fantasy about Weinergate when everyone knows he can't possibly know any details, and then he went on to say he's finacially brave. Yeah, Trump, you're real brave stiffing contractors. He's even been reported to have stiffed contractors running his campaign. 750K owed to pollsters. What a douche.

if they had used any tainted evidence, yes. But using it to run down leads is perfectly acceptable.
