nov 4 2016 Harvard suspended its men's soccer team for the rest of the season after members of the team made sexual comments about players on the women's soccer team.

"The decision to cancel a season is serious and consequential, and reflects Harvard's view that both the team's behavior and the failure to be forthcoming when initially questioned are completely unacceptable, have no place at Harvard, and run counter to the mutual respect that is a core value of our community,'' Harvard president Drew Faust said.

Last month, The Harvard Crimson student newspaper uncovered a document that rated the attractiveness of recruits on the women's team. The document served as a "scouting report” of the women’s soccer recruits. It rated them numerically and assigned each a hypothetical sexual position, the paper said.

Can the topic starter or anyone else here make a concise, cogent argument on it here?

College teams represent their schools. When a team member or members obtain negative publicity, they bring potential negative publicity to the institution.
This isn't some 3rd Millennium fluke.
It's been this way for generations.

They should come back next season and get the team suspended again. Harvard doesn't need to be promoting such aggression as sports.

If the womens soccer team said men are rapists, would they be suspended.?? THINK

I don't know what the right way to handle this would be but I don't think cancelling their season is the right way. I actually think it will create resentment towards the girls soccer team in a way. I think the best way to handle it would have been through the coaches and maybe having the men's team apologize to each girl and show their support for them by going to their games whenever possible and cheering them on.

Norah, they were warned back in 2012 not to do this, they didn't listen and continued to create this list. They obviously have no respect for the women's team, why would the women's team want them to be forced to apologize and to cheer these woman on?

It seems so obvious when you spell it out like that.

I fail to understand why such a common sense answer seems to be beyond the grasp of so many
