Roe v. Wade

Well, that isn't correct either (as usual w/ you). If the court overturns Roe, it goes to the states. Bible belt & other southern states would likely move to restrict or outlaw abortion, but it would remain legal in the more left-leaning and moderate states.

that would NOT go to the states.....no state could pass a law permitting the taking of the life of a human being without due process of law......that would be a violation of the Constitution......

Wow - for a guy who is so focused on abortion, you're woefully uninformed about what happens if they repeal Roe.

It goes to the states. It's not outlawed throughout the land. Individual states would be able to keep it legal.

Sorry 'bout that. I hate to be the one to break that to you.

puzzled.....in that imaginary liberal land of yours, if Massachusetts passed a law saying it was legal to kill 21 year olds, would the federal government say it was a state's choice?......if the court decides that an embryo has the same legal right as a 21 year old, the state is NOT going to be free to legalize killing an embryo......

It's not an imaginary liberal land. It's what would happen if Roe was overturned. Overturning Roe doesn't = the court deciding that abortion is "murder."

Unreal. Your ignorance on this is profound. It's really weird that you call other people here stupid.

It really is on the ballot next week. The last few votes involving Roe have been close.

I'm torn on the court in general. I don't want a liberal court, but by the same token, I don't want one that is ultra-conservative either. I like a close split. I think it's utterly bogus that they won't act on Obama's nominee, who is fairly moderate, because they "have to" replace Scalia with a conservative. Will Republicans be so concerned about replacing Ginsburg w/ a liberal?

I know Roe going away will cause some here & nationwide to rejoice. I don't think people really understand what a post-Roe world looks like. It's a real step back for women. But if Trump wins, women are going to see a lot of that.

Let's be clear about this, also: I know that there are some on the pro-life side who are genuinely pro LIFE. And I'm cool w/ that. We just disagree on abortion rights. But I think many on that side just want to control women. I think that's more clear this election cycle than it ever has been.

Roe Wade was settled 43 years ago and to keep whining about it is the typical scare tactic you guys always fall back on.....

Abortion is the law of the land and the only issue that might be at stake is the abomination called 'partial birth abortion'....I doubt that any conservative now on the SC would dare try to change Roe Wade.

I don't think abortion will ever be completely illegal or banned since its such a divisive issue and since it would be too hard to overturn, but I do hope and pray for a day when abortion doesn't even cross the mind of someone who is pregnant. There are other options besides aborting the baby and when alternatives like adoption becomes less expensive and less difficult than abortion and becomes the first thought of someone that becomes pregnant and doesn't want to have the baby instead of the second or third thought then maybe we will start to see those internal moral changes without the courts. Of course the ultimate form of birth control that is 100% effective is abstinence until you are ready, and right after that is the second most effective birth control which is both of you using protection.

It already is completely legal....From 1973 through 2011, nearly 53 million legal abortions occurred in the U.S.

Before Roe v. Wade, abortion was legal in several states

I'm sorry but I said completely illegal, not completely legal.

Trump has no interest in his and no time for it.
Between the economy and the corruption and general lawlessness he will have a full plate.
And this is why he as broad appeal.

depends on how they overturn it......as I stated, making a factual determination that an unborn child is legally a living human being and thus entitled to the protections of the Constitution WOULD equal the court deciding that abortion is murder.....that should be obvious if you stopped to think......

Abortion is the law of the land
we can solve that problem.....

I doubt that any conservative now on the SC would dare try to change Roe Wade.[/SIZE]

it is only a matter of time before science makes it unavoidable that a child at the third month of pregnancy is as much a human being as a child in his first birthday........
