Quite unbelievable......
Since early 2015, criminal-contempt charges have loomed over Arpaio, the potential consequence for violating a federal judge’s order to stop enforcing civil immigration laws.

A sheriff being charged for enforcing the law....who woulda thunk it....

I wonder if that is part of his job description...."you are not to enforce the law at any time"......

While at the same time, Clinton walks free for breaking the law.....and the laughable part is,

because she had no intent to break the law.....

Try the excuse the next time you get a parking ticket or a speeding ticked....

He can't enforce civil immigration laws.....so his domain must be only enforcing criminal law....

being illegally in the US is not a criminal matter according to the gov.....its a civil offense...

convoluted ?....you bet it is.....walking across the US border by non citizens is not illegal....but then again, you can

be deported for it....I wonder why if its not illegal....its a civil offense....and an 'offense' isn't 'illegal'....

ahhh...I give up....see a lawyer

A common civil offense is contempt of court.

Yet...you can spend a few days in jail if a judge says you're in contempt of the court.....

Are you under arrest if you go to jail ?....Can the police come get you if you're in contempt....I guess a sheriff can't though....

lol.. well you got me completely confused!!

Nice to see/hear the jail house attorneys opinions & legal definitions..

I guess the law is what you say it is, not a fed judge..

Arpaio and his supporters said it was no coincidence that the Justice Department announced the charge on the eve of early voting.

In an emailed statement, campaign manager Chad Willems said the president’s Justice Department was continuing its efforts to influence the local election.

Guess he shouldn't have been racially profiling, huh.

This arrogant old goat can't take the law into his own hands. I hope he has to live in a tent in the middle of summer, wear pink underwear and eat green bologna.

"In May, Snow — who was tapped for the federal bench in 2007 by President George W. Bush — found Arpaio in contempt of court, ruling that he and his aides had repeatedly ignored court orders to stop racially profiling Latinos.

“The Court finds that the Defendants have engaged in multiple acts of misconduct, dishonesty, and bad faith,” Snow wrote on May 13. “They have demonstrated a persistent disregard for the orders of the Court, as well as an intention to violate and manipulate the laws and policies regulating their conduct.”

The case stems from Snow’s ruling on a 2011 lawsuit, when he found that Arpaio’s office was unfairly singling out Latino drivers for special scrutiny and ordered that the practice be stopped. Two years later, Snow found that Arpaio had intentionally flouted his order, citing the sheriff’s own public comments, such as a 2012 interview with Fox News in which he declared, “I’m not stopping anything” and said he was “not going to bend to the federal government.”

Arpaio has exhibited nothing but contempt for the rule of law.

Moronic voters have paid close to $50 million to defend this dirtbag over his illegalities. And they stupidly keep re-electing him.

PHOENIX - Taxpayers in metro Phoenix will have to pick up an additional $13 million over the next year to cover the costs of a racial profiling case that has proven to be the thorniest legal entanglement faced by Sheriff Joe Arpaio.

Maricopa County, which has already shelled out $41 million during the past eight years in the case, must keep covering those legal costs until Arpaio’s office is released from the supervision of the case judge — a resolution that is years away."

Criminal-contempt charges have loomed over Arpaio since 2015. A criminal trial was the worst-case scenario for the sheriff after he admitted to violating a federal judge’s order to stop enforcing civil immigration laws.

The elites think that they can force an elected official to ignore laws, then claim that he committed a crime by ignoring them and enforces the laws.

Good luck with the jury. :D
