October 20, 2016 - "Israeli pharmacies are gearing up to sell medical marijuana across the nation under the government’s ongoing efforts to liberalize the use and sale of MMJ.

Super-Pharm, which has 225 branches across Israel, has been consulting with the nation’s health ministry to allow prescription and provision of medical marijuana by authorized doctors and pharmacists, Israel’s Haaretz newspaper reported.

The paper also reported that Super-Pharm and government officials are in talks over plans for the company to distribute and sell medical cannabis.

While cannabis use in Israel is illegal, medicinal marijuana is legal, and some 27,000 people have received the medicine this year.

Up to now, patients have been receiving their medicine directly from growers.

Under the government’s reform efforts, there are no limits on the number of drugstores that can be authorized to sell MM, according to Haaretz."

I have my doubts about how safe pot (which I've never gone in for) may be, just as I have no doubts at all about the extremely harmful effects of alcohol, to which I have a deep fraternal affection, but one thing I know for sure - if a government tries to decide what people shall have for their own good, it is going way beyond what it is elected to do, and will fail.

If you sit passively by and watch as your neighbor is hauled away to the dungeon for possessing marijuana, how long will it be before your neighbor sits passively by and watches you being hauled away to the dungeon for possessing oregano, or parsley, or basil?

Drug Warriors perceive the exercise of Liberty as the problem.
But their charter is clear. Liberty is the solution.

I have read that the illegal drugs that cross the U.S. / Mexico border from South to North kill fewer Americans than the legal drugs that cross the same borer from North to South.

It seems that's primarily due to tobacco, which it appears shall remain legal for the indefinite future.

For decades Aspirin was the cliché "safe" drug.

- It's OTC (no prescription needed)

- Some people take it routinely, because they can.

BUT !!

Recent studies have confirmed Aspirin can be quite dangerous, and is associated with elevated risk for stroke (brain hemorrhage), stomach ulcer, etc.

I doubt any drug is entirely safe, including marijuana.

BUT !!

It may be safer than cars, and I don't advocate we prohibit them.

All good things in moderation.

Sir Paul McCartney may be one of the most talented artistic powerhouses alive today.
I gather he's been using marijuana for most of his life.

We can cite that anecdote as evidence supporting your thesis.

BUT !!

What proof do you have that Sir Paul wouldn't have been even more artistically prolific if he'd never tried it?

I did not smoke pot but a couple of times before I was around 50


there are two kinds


indica and sativa


indica is for going to sleep


it will sonk you out and increase appetite


sativa baby


is heaven


relaxes the mind in a different way



it gets you right to the creative zone


I had been to that creative zone without its help for decades in my life



sativa merely gives me a shortcut


kills dead my tunnel carpal and mutes my artritis




its harmless and awesome

Fun drug fact that I learned from a buddy at the tax office: You can actually purchase "unlawful product" tax stamps, kind of like the stamps put on ammo. That way if you ever get caught with a large amount of drugs, they can't charge you for tax evasion as a seller.

Many years ago, in Arizona, they did exactly that.
It was discontinued; but a guy I know, who is a stamp collector, bought several sheets and will still sell single ones, is someone wanted one.
